@amerikanka2 жыл бұрын
People can have a couple of narcissistic traits and not full blown NPD. we have to be careful with that. Miles seems to me to have avoidant attachment. Many avoidant people, including myself, have a hard time getting into committed relationships due to childhood neglect and typically emotional abuse. Avoidant people stay single for very long--notice he's the only man on the show that hasn't had a committed relationship in the entirety of his time on the series. Also, avoidant people can enjoy short lived flings and casual romances because we have feelings of discomfort around sharing too much of our time with people. It makes sense that he was in a relationship with Maeva because it was long distance, AND she behaves anxiously attached, two relationship dynamics avoidants can get in a cycle of accepting. Of all the men from the history of MIC, I think Spencer Matthews had more traits of npd if we're gonna speculate, although I really don't like to do that. But people with NPD are codependent and need relationships in order to have a partner they can control, manipulate or feel better than. And Spencer was rarely single. He had a cycle of love bombing women, gaslighting them, blame-shifting, and discarding them on autopilot with a merry go round of new girls coming in just as another relationship ended. So he seems to fulfill that speculative diagnosis way more, but i still feel uncomfortable saying he has NPD because we don't spend enough quality time with these people to say that

I’ve recently realized how selfish I can be from how I treated my friend and I didn’t like realizing it either, it’s never fun digging up our flaws and imperfections but that’s where seeds of growth are planted. If you choose to be in a relationship you’re choosing to have another person be apart of your world. Choosing True Love is putting someone else’s needs above your own, considering that person to be superior to your own selfish needs. The world is filled with selfishness which is why the divorce rate is so high and people struggle to find a marriage mate, but when you find someone you really love it’s actually easy to not be selfish you want to put them ahead of yourself but it’s hard if you don’t really love the person. I think Miles hasn’t found someone yet he really loves but I hope he does.

The truth is some people are born selfless/altruistic and through interpersonal relationships & various life lessons must learn how to put themselves first. This seems to be the case here. 👁️ Can't help but feel that Miles sees himself as misunderstood. He also seems to have a fear of intimacy&commitment and an idealistic view of what love should be. He seeks perfectionism in himself&the women he dates which obviously doesn't exist yet the quest continues...He doesn't let people in easily as he's been hurt before and this means he's wary about who he interacts with yet simultaneously chases validation in order to feel good enough. Bottom line: low self worth. ✨

I really thought Miles knew himself, was aware of his traits and 'consciously' doing the things he did because he was simply not ready to settle down... But, it seems he is not aware of how his actions affect others and losing himself in all this tv madness. Sad really as he started out as a kind of nice guy, as far as these people in the public eye can be/are... If I was to give any advice I would say that he got caught up, in the games and trauma/drama of the wrong type of girl and has now become accustomed to the 'false' high that that gives him. He really needs to refocus on who he is and what he wants in a relationship i.e. the mirror of his family relationships and re-track to get back to that. Ultimately, the right type of girl in his head might be the wrong type of girl to spend your life/time with...

I'm actually with him on this one, I hate how someone can get typecast into a role of "caregiver", "defender", "ego soother" etc., but after spending a lot of time being that person to people it can burn you out. Relationships should be a give and take, and maybe both partners need to find ways to meet each other's needs, even if its better to dish to your Girlfriends about some things than your partner. Some people are just not built to be caretakers, or nurturers, some people are great at it, and other;s are not.
