this is why I love old fashioned magic. They concentrated on story, on everything around it, and not just hot girls dancing before and after the effect

I have only done amateur box jumping. Helping out in school and charity shows - not professional big illusions. But my main interest since then is cards, coins, cups, and sponges magic. And helping to reveal magic for all to learn in a cool street magic style for the new magic students. Good luck with your magic.

So you're a bloody amateur that doesn't know how to perform on stage so instead you give it away that's disgusting
@MagikGimp11 жыл бұрын
I could have sworn it was a buzzer operated from behind the scenes when I saw it! Mind you, one of the guys seemed a right plonker so maybe he was all that was needed. The stickiness I couldn't figure out at all and the guy really panicked when his brain wouldn't allow him to just open his fingers lol. I've never been able to be hypnotised so I guess it wouldn't work on me.

It's just entertainment, good entertainment at that. He's not on trial, all magicians need to tell the odd porker now and then; it's how they convince you that counts. These larger tricks are always easier to figure out anyway but still fun to watch.
@James-kv6kb Жыл бұрын
Its funny everyone says I know how it's done but when you actually asked them they're usually wrong
@MagikGimp11 жыл бұрын
Wow, you're quite involved in the old magic circle then. Those routines you mentioned I've also found on KZbin if you didn't know.
@James-kv6kb Жыл бұрын
Just because some smart ass on KZbin tells you how a trick is done that is not necessarily the actual method magicians use there are many ways of doing tricks

Yes electric chairs is around quite a bit, and many others. It's good live. The spectators are stooged on the fly during the act. He has to pick the right people, it's quite an art.
@James-kv6kb Жыл бұрын
It's always the same if you can't work it out you say it's stooges
@MagikGimp11 жыл бұрын
Hmm, interesting. Now I don't know who to believe! ;)
@CaraBrimleyRules11 жыл бұрын
They aren't hypnotised they are in on the act. Paul gives them instructions when he turns the mic off and there are instructions written on the tissue box etc. When they go off stage to fetch a chair they get briefed by Debbie and the crew. They are told to jump up and pretend they've been shocked to fool the audience. 99% of people are pleased to be let in on the show & play along with it. That's all there is to it. No electrics, no hypnotism, just man management & selecting the right guys.

This one seems relatively simple. She passes through the large coin (by whatever trick mechanism there is) before the spears are put in place, and is easily able to reach her arm back through the coin and up through the hole to wave the flag on the other side. This would have a better effect if they could manage to have the girl in the box wave the flag through a hole that is at the far end of the box.
@James-kv6kb Жыл бұрын
So you are explaining the illusion by telling as there's a trick mechanism that doesn't tell us a lot

@MgcMrMistoffelees what was the video called?
@CaraBrimleyRules11 жыл бұрын
Yes, it's an excellent example of the way a magician will lie and use whatever means possible to justify an effect. He can honestly say "I've not met you before have I" but 10 minutes later that person is just as much a stooge as any other. Innovative as I can't think of many other effects where specs are stooged up during the act. You will also get people going on You Tube and blogs who have been in on the act claiming that Paul shocked them and they don't know how to keep up the mystery!!!
@James-kv6kb Жыл бұрын
First of all so when you're watching Star wars do you feel that the producers are lying to you because they're showing you alien puppets ? And you talk about stooges which is the classic statement from someone who doesn't know how the effect is actually done now he didn't use stooges and if anybody is going on KZbin saying they were there just bored suburban people looking for attention
@MagikGimp11 жыл бұрын
Nooo nono, but Paul is starting a tour soon; maybe he needs another beautiful assistant? ;)

3:30 is the key to the trick and by 4:10 the trick's already happened

This is really nice. But the Masked Magician has just revealed its secret....

The masked magician revealed this one
@James-kv6kb Жыл бұрын
Yes because he was so hopeless on stage he got booded off and could only sell the tricks most of which weren't the actual way the magician's did it
@bRadicalmagic114 жыл бұрын
He forgot to ask everybody does anybody know why the little hole in the middle of the coin is there.... A) it's for PEEKING (Peking)
@MagikGimp11 жыл бұрын
Oh that's a shame but then it often is when you find out how they do it. Thanks for telling me anyway, it's very well done none the less; not such a plonker after all I guess.
@CaraBrimleyRules11 жыл бұрын
You are correct. They tell lies all the time! For some reason though I did not like this effect. I didn't feel it was entertaining and it relied on one very big lie. I have done some box jumping but mostly close up. Do you work in the business ;)
@James-kv6kb Жыл бұрын
I'm sorry about your a retard if you think magicians are lying to you to deceive you
@CaraBrimleyRules11 жыл бұрын
Maybe Debs will oblige? I have seen Paul perform in person and spoken too him at a magic convention. He's pretty good but I never liked his presentations of bigger illusions. I think you have to be more natural, serious, or mysterious for that. He's too much of a jokey cheeky chappy. His best is sleight of hand like the chop cup, and the psychological things like electric chairs or paper balls over the head which is part of the chairs routine.
@CaraBrimleyRules11 жыл бұрын
Haha, I've given you the inside story on the effect. If you believe in magic you can believe the rumours ;)
@James-kv6kb Жыл бұрын
Do you have some sort of mental health issue no one thinks magic is real it is just an illusion created to entertain .

I don't know if Seth Kotkin has done this one yet, Bill, it's pretty lame for old Seth Kotkin, this one.

I know a lot of ex box jumpers and I spoke to one the other year who had done this illusion. There is a trap door in the coin and she goes through to the other box before the spears go in. Later she sticks her hand through the spears to wave the stick in the other box to make you think she was still in there. LAME. He said the coin was solid, it wasn't. LAME He LIED - it has trap door.

Oh my god I worship you how cool are you you've told everybody how it's done I'm so impressed with you way more than the actual magician who spent years and years building up his reputation to be able to do this instead of some boring person from the suburbs who needs to ride on his fame
