They wanted to keep his wall game, which made Paul a real threat in Tekken 7 being big burst damage and heavy wall combos. Back in the days, Paul didn't have a lot of options against the wall

Paul’s Tekken 8 “burning fist” does less damage than death fist and it’s way slower. Idk who decided unblockables in Tekken 8 needed to be gutted, but that move is unusable now

I think the general idea behind it is good. Incentivise the players to cancel the RA for a better reward but at the risk of dropping the combo. In the long run it is also more fun for spectators as the RA animations get boring to watch quickly. It should have been a universal mechanic imo. But I agree that the damage of the RA cancel is way overtuned in this game. It's pretty ridiculous.

And this isn't even vanilla Tekken 7 Paul. He could legitimately take off 50% in two hits with no wall and no rage in an entirely practical manner. He was Akuma with a fifth of the work.

I don't' like changes of Paul in T8, I don't understand why they entered multiple DF in 1 combo with small amount of damage each one. It makes devaluation of Death Fist. In T7 for instance 2 DF in wall give us 94dmg ~ 52% of lifebar.

Good. Paul's damage in T7 is plain stupid. I orefer balance over some fake Identity thats about doing too mich damage. He shouldn't be the #1 most popular because of that. And the paul mains showed their loyalty already dropping him to #9 out of 16. Snd the rage art cancel should have been gone in s2. It doesnt make sense from any perspective (story, gameplay or character) and makes his rage art the best in the game by a million miles for no reason. Just be grateful he has a fkn guard breaking heat engager now.

Listen I’m playing Tekken 7 still I like Paul better here. I may not get that many games but I like my Tekken difficulty high. Period. Tekken 8 is wayyyyy to easy which increases the difficulty in other ways you may not be ready for at higher levels. Y’all better get ready for the almighty dragunov wr2 because now everyone can do it which makes defense harder to achieve since key powerful moves are accessible. And oh yeah good luck with the Jun And asuka reversal spam because they took away chickening too…. You’re HARDLY defeating them spamming reversals……

It's easier to do but not faster to do. So, yes, you'll see it more, but also the sidestepping has been buffed and it has weak tracking(if it retains the properties of 7).
