As much as I agree. The regular season and the rivalries are what makes college football stand out but a legit playoff has been a long time coming. If it wasn’t for the bowl games being the big money for so long a 12 team playoff would have happened many years ago, maybe even decades ago

In the NFL, it's all about winning the Super Bowl, but in college, it's not. Secondly, winning a natty in college requires a truly special season. With this format, merely above-average SEC teams with 3 or 4 losses will get in, and they don't deserve it. The regular season matchups should decide, not playoff rematches and just above mediocre teams. Those teams can play in the Citrus Bowl or the Peach Bowl or whatever, not the playoff

Even though lately it seems that college football is turning into the NFL 2.0 with the whole 12 team playoff, you may have some teams make some business decisions and resting their star players if they already have the season sewed up and they're going to be in the playoffs with a high ranking and if they win their conference. Something to think about. 🤔

Dabo is right. You see what happened to Florida state when Travis Jordan got hurt. That injury alone was the reason why the committee was chose to keep them out of the playoffs despite going undefeated and winning the conference championship game. Nick saban already said these things would happen years ago. Players are already opting out of bowl games if they aren’t in the playoffs. You will see coaches sit out star players the last game of the season (rivalry weekend), meaningless games, and cupcake games. If a team has already lost 3-4 games in the middle of the season you will see star players sit out the rest of the season, enter the transfer portal, or opt out the rest of the season to train for the NFL.
