Hi mrih 1586 and Mark, thanks so much to both of you for the nice comments. A teaching video on right hand technique is something I may consider. Mark, in this video I'm using a Peavey, Nashville 112. lows/-6, mids/-6, shift/straight up, highs/+6, presence/-6. The only effect I'm using is the amp reverb and it's set at 4. pre gain/21/2, master volume/5. Thanks again gentlemen, Dale

Hey Dale Thanks for the excellent video. I have seen so many folks who do teaching videos and forget to name the positions/strings used. You do an excellent job, with clear and precise explanations. Thank you for sharing your work, it is very much appreciated. I have just tabbed out your work, so that I can learn at My Franklin PSG. Thanks again John

You're a very gifted player. Excellent work with both your right and left hands. Refreshing to see such a gifted player teach for free. You might want to consider doing a video on Franklin's right hand technique. You got very close here. Excellent Franklin tone as well. Enjoyed your clip. Hope to hear more in the future.

Thanks so much guys! Ian, Thanks for your nice comments. Coming from you, that means a lot. I've heard you're an incredible steel guitarist. I would love to hear you play some day. Where in Canada do you live? I believe Paul Franklin has taken this instrument to another level. The technical originality, soul and emotion he puts into his playing is unmatched. All the best, Dale

Steelpicker, yes you're right. There is an old Goodrich, steel driver 2 attached to my steel however it was not plugged in for the recording of this video. I bought the Carter used but I'm told it has George L SS 10 pickups. I agree, I think these amps sound best with the lows rolled off. Bruce Snow, it's been too long since we've seen each other my friend. It's good to hear you're picking with Gerald.

Hi LebolandMusic, this is a solo Paul Franklin played live with the Time Jumpers. Unfortunately I don't know how to post a link here. If you go to The Steel Guitar Forum under the section "Steel on the Web" you can find my post and a KZbin link to Paul's wonderful solo.

Thanks so much guys. sonny paul, in this video, I'm using only the amp reverb. Bob Snelgrove, yes I live in Canada, about an hour away from Detroit. Do you still have the burgundy Franklin? David Gibson, I use an Emmons' setup. whatthehellbrosef, I consider the half tone raise on the second string standard now. So yes, a fairly standard setup.

Dale, How awesome of a job of teaching, You pretty much hit it everytime......Have you ever come to the Dallas show in March of each yr, been going for 24 yrs and I have always loved Pauls playing. Do you have this tap anywhere or on a teach C DVD, I would like to purchase on from you if you have it? It is a little to fast for me without recording it and do it that way, Just thought I would ask, Bud sure built a nice guitar, He was turly a MASTER of Steels, He built me a MSA back in 75 and I still use it in the studi, I do have a d-10 that Bud also built, So you are playing all of that on a standard setup, no Franklin pedals??? Thanks for showing us this great music, You have awesome tone......Wished you would come to Dallas in March, I could get you on the show if you areinterested....I will be watching...

Hi Jay, Thanks for your nice comments. Although I've never been, I'd like to go to the Dallas Steel show one year. I was fortunate enough to play the show in St. Louis one time. I'm sorry, I don't have this on DVD. My suggestion would be to learn (in order) one little section at a time. Pause this video and memorize the parts and don't move forward until you have. Slowly piece the sections together (in order) and before you know it, you will be playing the whole solo. It's a slow process, so take your time. I agree, Bud Carter was a genius steel builder. I've never owned a MSA but have had 2 Carter's. Great guitars. Yes, this can be played on a standard setup. The problem with going to steel shows is they usually happen on the weekend. That's usually when I'm working (gigging). Thanks for the interest and for writing. All the best, Dale

Dale, thanks for the great work! I recorded all of your programs last evening and I will look at it again. What does the Franklin pedal do on the e9th neck. Bud Carter was a very close friend of mine and he built a awesome guitar. I lost a good buddy. He was the MASTER of all STEEL BUILDERS and he also was a great player. I am working on a small book about him now and I will be talking about his life of the Carter Steel. Nicest guy on earth. Keep up the great work , I will be watching. Thanks again

Eee Nine Hey Eee Nine (See six) Thanks Man! Ha, I toyed with the idea of moving to Nashville when I was younger. I visit on a regular basis but the fact that I'm too old to fit into the new country scene now and most players there play circles around me, I would be eaten up in that town! Thanks for the nice comment though. Bye for now, Dale
