Another excellent episode in the continuing saga of Kurt and the SS Division Das Reich as they approach the outskirts of Moscow! Your reading of the diary, matched with relevant and fresh film, combine to create a compelling story that is one of my favorite series that you have created.

If its not out of print, try & get a copy of, 'Moscow Tram Stop' by Heinrich Haape. It tells the account of a battalion doctor (Assistenzarzt) with the German 6ᵗʰ Infantry Division (3ʳᵈ Battalion, Infantry Regiment 18) which fought with Army Group Center in 1941-42. One of the best personal accounts of the fighting in Russia I've ever read, and I've read almost all of them. It was written in the 1950s so hopefully copies are still available. If it's not available, there are certain "other" ways to obtain it. Good luck.

@@incomitatus "Moscow Tram Stop" is a classic. I bought a new copy from Amazon not long ago, published by Stackpole. Yes, there is a new printing. Another great one is Blood, Dust and Snow" about Friedrich Sander's diary entries during the 1941 drive on Leningrad with 6th Panzer Division. Unlike many other diaries, his is very interesting.

@@ChristIsRisen6777 Blood, Dust & Snow is a great book, I agree. I always thought Moscow Tram Stop would make a great movie, but its not something Hollywood would make. Some independent producer with the right storyline & actors could make a fortune if they produced it, IMO.

I just want to add that the word "injured" refers to getting hurt but NOT by the deliberate action of someone else. As in an accident. The correct word for what happened to Gen Hausser is "wounded" as it was the deliberate intention of the enemy to hurt him. These two words are very often misused nowadays.

@@M1945 The shortage of trucks and the supply lines crew longer. The front was extending to 3000 miles. The only human resource that allowed the Germans to keep fighting was the determination of the officers.
