Yeah JCVD and others like Arnold/Silvester were such an inspiration back in the days, they carried us weak little boys and created our dreams and goals. I grew up without a father, nobody in my family is even slightly athletic or into sports at all and here I am shredded and athletic at 37. "Bloodsport" was great but to me "Kickboxer" was the movie that made me realize Van Damme was going to be a major player in the action movies for years to come. It was a good story of revenge, redemption, and becoming more than you thought you ever could be for the sake of honor and family. It had the emotion factor in it that makes you get invested and makes all movies great.

My Grandmother would rent this movie for me almost every day of the week ..back when video stores were around (90's). I never knew if she paid to rent it or the store manager would just give it to her. She eventually brought it home,for good! I think I still have it along with all the other VHS's I have 😎

Sometime in 1996, I watched it for the first time on VHS. My uncle had a VHS library. Dad brought the Kickboxer movie, but it turned out that there was a wrong VHS cassette in the box. It was already late around 10pm. Dad went to my uncle and got the correct movie. I waited while lying in bed. Finally dad came. He inserted the cassette into the VCR. It was that great movie with great music. I was maybe 12-13 years old. I remember that day like today and I love this movie to this day

@El Rey I wished. I've been chasing to be a student in certain martial arts when I was younger. I'd watched kickboxer, bloodsport, dragon lady etc. That was my #1 Goal to get into Taekwondo 🥋. On the other hand These films and soundtracks keep me going.

Grew up in the lqte 80s amd 90s was my era . My goodness bloodsport and kickboxer couldnt stop watching em . Poor sad j.c.v.d all that huge amounts of coke he used he use to spend 25,000 a week on it wow .. he mixed with alchohol and other substances really messed him up today hes bi polar . Sad but his films live forever just like b4 him the legend bruce lee . I think sadly what fame and monies does to these stars . Even bruce lee use to like eating and smoking hashish as they caught it in him when he died .
