Paul Hindemith - Sonata II, 2nd Mvt

Paul Hindemith's three Organ Sonatas date from the late 1930s and are perennially popular with organists. Hindemith's musical language is like no other composer's and that is probably part of the appeal. Unusually for a non-organist, his organ works are well-written and idiomatic for the instrument. This attribute applies to just about everything he wrote for whatever instrument and shows true dedication to the composer's craft.
This pastorale movement is marked Ruhig bewegt - gently moving - and is the perfect middle movement, set between the bold opening one and the fugal finale.
