He's kind enough to note that the tonal beauty is incidental. So, just play FAST.

@@ninjacoughdrop In this case, "Nebensache" is better translated as "secondary", as in not a priority.

Hindemith is not my favorite but I really appreciate his genius. His language is unique and it will last forever.

Love this piece. Reminds me in many ways of Kodaly’s sonata for solo cello.

Hindemith was probably too lazy to write down sixteenth notes in the fourth movement so he just used quarter notes and sped up the tempo
@eawviolinАй бұрын
I think the idea is, that with how common the meter changes are, quarter notes are just clearer to write than having sixteenth notes and having to constantly beam them differently.

At 10:15 did he insert a motif from one of the Bloch sonatas?? Sounds familiar.

Hindemith's intention was to perform these sonata without any vibrato!
@dhowellbassist3 жыл бұрын
Why do you say that?
@zalba57103 жыл бұрын
I don’t know what his ‚intention’ was, but he certainly used a lot of vibrato and stuff himself recording that sonata.
