Paul Hogan isn't just an Australian - for the rest of the world, he is Australia. First as Crocodile Dundee, then throwing another shrimp on the barbie in those successful TV ads. But back home, he's always been a bit of a rascal, and always good for a laugh. At 77, he's more thoughtful and candid about his life and loves - but just as cheeky as ever.

I remember watching The Paul Hogan Show when I was a child in Texas. I only remember him riding a wheelie down a pier (perhaps) on a dirt bike and that I thought it was funny. After he made Dundee, we teenagers loved it and they all wanted to talk about him but only knew his character name. I always liked that I could tell people his name and that he has done other things than just a movie. Because, at 16 I knew everything already, of course. I am glad he hasn't jumped off the planet yet, seems a very nice man that is enjoying life as much as he can without intentionally hurting other for his gain. Now to see if those shows are out here on the aether yet, they may be too old for even home video.

Yea, back when the TV was full of rapists and child molesters and abusing your wife and kids was commonplace. Ah the good old days. Everything was better in the past, wasn't it.. or is that just a delusion based on highly selective thinking and most people picturing the past through the massively artificial form of tv and films as well as the ignorant haze of childhood, rather than the grim realities? Anyway, at least you could objectify and bully women like there was no tomorrow, or make fun of disabilities etc. You know I found a great little interview from the 70s the other day with a woman who was 108 at the time and had lived during the Victorian era. When asked if it was difficult for women back the she said, yes it was horrendous. But yea, the good old days eh - back when women weren't allowed to vote or (often) even work.. back when you could force women to shut up and stay at home and cook your dinner and do all the housework while you f-ed off to your club or the pub and could freely call black people stupid n*****s to make yourself feel big. Good times.
@kimwiser445
@kimwiser445 5 жыл бұрын
Austin Dyer I’m not saying everything in the past was good. There are things that we are doing better now. But it’s going to far and they are taking the fun out of things. There were programs that brought issues out that needed to be fixed through comedy. Those shows couldn’t be on TV now.
@kimwiser445
@kimwiser445 5 жыл бұрын
It’s also wrong to say everything in the past was bad! That there weren’t good people and good things done. I have stories from my Great Great Grandmother who lived through very tough circumstances but was happily married and had amazing strength. As through all of history and today there are good and bad people who do good and bad things.

@notsosilentmajority1
@notsosilentmajority1 5 жыл бұрын
@@AD-kv9kj Yeah now you can't tell the truth because someone might need a safe space due to their feelings being hurt. Life before PC was much more honest and real. There has never been a time in history where everything was great for everyone BUT now society is regressing. People get away with murder by playing the race card, saying nothing more than hello to certain women gets you called a sexist, people are no longer permitted to give opposing views on many campuses, freedom of speech is under greater attack than any other time in our nations history, illegal immigrants get free health care (paid by the taxpayer) while lifelong citizens are dying due to lack of qualified care, etc., etc.. Rapists, child molesters and the like still exist today, just look at the internet and the news. Of course many of them are Hollywood names and some seem to be being protected by the royal family, along with grooming gangs and terrorists. Maybe the fact that most men enjoy looking at a woman and her body bothers you but the truth of the matter is it's quite normal and the PC world wants to pretend there is something wrong with that. That is called nature and it's probably how you got here in the first place. BTW, women like to look at men too. Of course, this same bizarro world has cross dressing man-ladies telling story time to children in public libraries. This same bizarro world allows human beings to defecate on the streets of some of the (one time) most wonderful cities in America to the point of there being an actual health hazard to the community. Laws are being passed that allow people to murder children after they have been born but if you did the same thing to a dog those same people would have you thrown in jail. The past you are discussing was definitely far better than today. Like I said, no time was great for everyone but society today is regressing at a rapid rate and liberalism and the PC culture are huge contributing factors. People fail to take responsibility for their own actions, everything is someone else's fault. There is no accountability or respect or humility. Crawl out from your safe space and be a man or woman, there are only 2 genders.

I remember around 1980 him doing a skit Saturday Night Fever style. it was so funny I don't know what channel but every once in a while here in the states we used to get one of Paul Hogan's shows. I still remember I believe I cried he was so funny. and then Crocodile Dundee came out and made him a worldwide star. they pick the right place to film New York City. it was a Blockbuster everybody knew who Paul Hogan was. he didn't jump around and do crazy things for a laugh with that little smile of his he won my heart what a great funny man. and when he gave his little talk at the Academy Awards it was so funny I can't believe it's been that long. people still say put another shrimp on the barbie in every language. in the world no worries mate.
