Oh Monty you've bumped into an absolute legend in Paul Kelly. He's been in the business for 40 years with a massive back catalogue. His lyrics are the gold in just brilliant songs and well worth re-listening. I could give you so many songs to listen to but one of his early one's that's a straight up rock song and wailing guitar in it is 'To her door' (you'll love it) but so so many to choose you can't really go wrong. This song is an absolute beloved Christmas song down here. Not sure if it is the convict 'locked away' nature to it or just the fact that for many reasons (not always illegal ones) Aussies may struggle to be home for Christmas and it appeals to simple aspects of having a meal with family on a stinking hot day. It is so loved that December 21st has been officially names 'Gravy Day' in honour of this song. Enjoy this rabbit hole.

TY Monty for playing this awesome song, here in Australia since Paul released this song the 21st of December is called Gravy Day so you timed this very well. Some Background for you about the song, Paul was asked back in 1996 to record a song for a charity Christmas album and since the one he wanted too do was already recorded by someone else he said I will write my own and this was the one he wrote. He got his inspiration from White Christmas where the person cant be home for Christmas, and in this case it is Joe in prison. I would recommend you watch the re-release Paul did during our horror lockdowns where for 2 years we had no family gatherings for Christmas. I will attach the link but be ready as it is a tear jerker with fans all over the world sent in clips of them singing the song and it has had a new life with us all being "Joe". I think u missed the point of the song , it’s about this guy who messed up and went to gaol and he missed Xmas with his family , hence who’s gunna make the gravy at Xmas , tell ‘em all I’m sorry , don’t stab me in the back with my girl etc etc , it’s a deep song man look deeper , maybe read the lyrics 👍
