Joan Havill's proposition that I should pursue the piano professionally was the greatest compliment I received to date. Although, I am now on the path to becoming a surgeon, I am really enjoying watching your interviews during break time, and I love how you unlike a lot of other interviewers allow the interviewee to really expand on their thoughts and ideas.

Hi, So glad you like my interviews. I would love to interview Leif Ove Andsnes.....it all depends on his diary and whether he likes to be interviewed...some artists really enjoy it and others are more private. I will bear him in mind though :-)

He is the kind of musician when playing tells us to listen how wonderful is this music rather than showing off his technique..

You cant show off something you don't have........

You can not interpret classical music on technique alone. Being able to play what you hear in your head is an ability that not many have. This person has it. i strongly believe you either have that talent or you don't. It is like tring to compare a Chinese manufactured grand piano with a German manufactured piano. Impossible. Really. It is what it is.

Thank you for making these. I find them both interesting and motivating. Any chance of ever seeing Leif Ove Andsnes in one of these? :)

Really excellent, enjoyed very much. I interviewed Paul a few years ago and felt we could have chatted far beyond the hour we had. I like that you don't poke around musicological tidbits, subjects that are so dry. It's always fun to hear musicians "unbuttoned" as it were.

Thanks so much for your kind comments - much appreciated. Interested to hear you interviewed Paul. He has so much to say - I'm sure we could have easily recorded several more interviews....

could you please tell us what model is that Steinway in the background? also I see the tail of another one piano, so Mr. Lewis had two pianos?

Hello, many thanks for getting in touch. This interview was filmed about 10 years ago and Paul has now moved. I think he had two model Ds.

@@ClassicalMel tnx Melanie, do you know if Paul teaches privately at all? he is the best source for learning how to play Schubert the right way on our modern loud grand pianos!

@@amirmotahari6186 Hello, I wouldn't know whether Paul teaches or not. He currently lives in Norway with his family and is always travelling to recitals, so he probably doesn't have time.

Seemed to jump from age 4 to 18 without saying anything about what happened in between which is a pity as that is surely just about the most important period of instruction.
