The limbic system is the seat of most of our animalistic behaviours. You can retrain the brain to use more of the neocortex. The brain's ability to adjust is called neuroplasticity.

I've seen that there is a pdf version of his book, The Triune Brain in Evolution, that sells for $75. Does anyone know if that is still available and where to get it. I'm aware of the hard copy that sells for approximately $300. I'd really like to get the pdf if anyone can point me in the right direction.
