maybe . but cmon man. you can't deny that after 80s his voice has become too nasal. it's like he can only breath through his mouth 70s were his best period

Carl Lee Perkins was MY COUSIN, and it was my sister that told me, not my dad. I played drums for 12 years, I had always wondered where I got my talent from, now I know it was in the family the whole time.

Clapton did a blistering solo on this song in 1969 when he played with lennon's plastic ono band on Live Peace in Toronto. the line up was Clapton on lead, lennon on rhythm guitar, klaus voormann on bass and alan white on drums. in fact there's a thumbnail for it to my right. they also played yer blues, give peace a chance and a few others I can't recall.

Carl Perkins was a great man and artist. He'll be sadly missed. And life is too short, To put-off sharing with people, How much they really mean to you, And pursuing whatever it is that makes you happy.

Whatever shall them say ,,,,, Paul's voice will stay unique and known to be recognised from any body on this planet. He is a major telented British Icon like many others of this *Never-will-be-done-So-Prolific ERA . I have a thankful respect to this man who showed me so much.

Billy Joel said that, since it had been less than a year since Linda’s death and this was Paul’s first major public appearance since then, nobody knew if he’d want to perform on stage and nobody wanted to ask him, so he wouldn’t feel pressured. They’d just see whether he joined them or not, and he did. So Paul didn’t even know what songs they were going to perform, but all director Paul Schaefer had to do was point him to a mic, and the consummate performer takes over. He might not have performed this song since the 1962 Hamburg days, but it’s still automatic. But Paul didn’t know he was performing, so he didn’t bring a left-handed instrument, so his arms don’t know what to do without a bass. And by this time in the ceremony, much wine was consumed, so...

George Harrison would've done a nice job with the solo.
@SisterRayVU687 жыл бұрын
Yes, he's serious. George Harrison had Carl Perkins, and Scotty Moore down cold. This is one of the reasons I have a love hate relationship with Eric Clapton. No need to be a blowhard. Or in England they would say wanker. EC doesn't have to masturbate an iconic solo.
@SisterRayVU687 жыл бұрын
I only posted to defend Scott Walker, who made a great point. Now that you've made it personal, I know you're not as smart as you believe you are. Just because Robbie Robertson, and EC run through the solos of Blue Suede Shoes at 100 mph does not make them master guitar players. Harrison would've played the solo in the style of Perkins with class. As for EC playing is beyond reproach, you may want to listen to Mike Bloomfield, Duane Allman, Ritchie Blackmore, and Peter Green. Eric Clapton hasn't been "Eric Clapton" since 1969 before he discovered heroin. I know my music silly person.

There is footage of George playing that solo almost note for note perfectly with Carl during the Rockabilly sessions. George had some chops on the guitar for sure and a deep love for Scotty and Carl.
