Benny Hill...define tangible...thats rubbish..the beatles came up with ALL the genius, George translated some of their more sophisticated ideas into reality, so for example the musical solo of .In my life...John and paul wrote..all the song, without the song, which is written by an extremely talented 25 year old, the harpsichord sounding piece wouldve been nothing..... The beatles always brought GEMS of songs in which allowed gerogfe to play and run riot with in conjunction with them..but tangible music..the songs were all written before the studio \9well unless lennon wrote on the hoof or get back) George was a good tranlatopr of their more abstract ideas but, the beatles and the ideas in the first place...george was a very talented sideman.

@Benny Hill I wouldn't call it translate, because all of them could stand quite excellent on their own. Maybe accommodate their huge talent and potential to the max is more accurate. What made him special is he never dismissed them, no matter how absurd the lads idea. Martin also influential for classical influence and studio work to Paul. He also contribute some orchestra arrangement and keyboard work.

@@frankie1138 overall his musical career was pretty lame you know he didn't experiment with synthesizers or anything nor John I mean Paul was the only one who has explored musically what he could do. George was kind of a fuddy duddy like John was a fuddy Duddy. and even with the mug record that sort of seemed to be like just a novel record he didn't seem to have some sort of long going interest. Georgia solo careers all right musically. Paul sort of just continued and many variations whether that was a side project or some of the other things he's done and then even if those things he's done in the last several decades aren't they good at least they were adventurous.

Really admired him because he's an artist who really likes to be involved in all the process of doing music. Currently, despite his age, he's still going on, learning about the new trendies and new technology stuff. He's one of the few artists who really love the music and always tries to do his best in each album he does. A very responsible man in all sense!

No. It pre-dates Cubase SX by a LOT of years! The program is Cubase v.1.0. It had a very basic notation editor built into it, but it was not very accurate. But, a good arranger helped Paul to orchestrate his mock-ups.

@celloprofundo the computers don't harmonize for you. And harmonizing is the easiest, EASIEST part of composing something. There after all only 12 different notes to harmonize in two-part, 23 in three-part, and 34 in four-part harmony. Its not like its that hard to come up with a harmony to a note. Its all about placement and chord progressions, and the all important dynamics, that make composing hard. In that part, the computers become useful (dynamics are easy to plot out)

@FearghasG ..With you for the most part but kinda fuzzy on the dynamics...are you talking about the building blocks or the arranging of a song? ; )

@CentraCross I think digital music is not bad per se. Humans since the very begining used all the resources they had at hand to make music, and now we have technology. The problem comes when people stop being creative and let the computers think for themselve. Music is 100% human. I agree today's so called musicians just make a loop and don't create anymore. But there are some great electronic musicians who are excellent like Björk or Gustavo Cerati.

Try listening closely, for hours on end, to music and separate the pieces (bass, percussion, rhythm guitar, lead instruments) into their parts, including melody etc. Pick up an instrument and try to play those parts and try to write some. Or get a keyboard and select the sound you like and play that. Then record that and try to layer some parts. Then progress to a computer to allow recording and arranging. If you don't find this interesting, music isn't for you. I learned w/o a teacher.

I disagree; I think he did 'pop' because he liked it more. Nothing wrong with that, great pop music is as great as great classical music. It's all relative. George Martin, a classical enthusiast all those Beatle years would have parted with his member to have come up with 'Pet Sounds'; probably Paul too. I think 'Ram' is Paul's equal to 'Pet Sounds'. That's saying a lot----

Not that it makes a shred of difference if it's mac or pc, other than those who aren't rich waste money needlessly in hopes they too will become "a pro" like mccartney, who could probably write on a stretched fishing line and guitar pick. Mccartney knowing nothing about computers, ran into some mac fan who told him it's a must, which is of course has been the ongoing lie and joke in the industry for ages. Meanwhile, someone loads the same software on a pc with faster cpu for far less and voila!
