I am so glad that you performed a reaction to one of my favorite early songs of Paul McCartney when he formed a band known as Wings. This was a band formed by McCartney in connection with his late wife Linda McCartney after he left his association with the Beatles, following the final major album of Let It Be in 1969. The wings are being formed when he went on a solo hit known as Maybe I'm Amazed in 1970. The Band on the Run song became very popular 1973 as I was turning 28. I always enjoyed the sequence of mystery and musical sounds with unusual guitar riffs, which was contrasted with the storybook musical sounds and smooth adventurous sounds of a band while it was on the road seeking Adventure. The liberty of the music gave you a sense of adventure in your own life as a younger person. In his formation with the band of wings with his wife Linda it was a catalog of many other hits probably some of your commenters have requested reactions on. This included their early top hit of" Jets" Live and Let Die which was used as a main theme song for a James Bond movie at the time. Other hits included " With a Little Luck""Listen to Man Said""Silly Little Love Song". Others included " Uncle Albert/ Admiral Halsey"" Coming Up"" Say Say","Hi Hi"" London Town"" My Love""Mull of Kintre". Besides many others he also had individual collaborations with Stevie Wonder and Michael Jackson which included a number one song title Ebony and Ivory. When the Beatles appeared on the scene in 1962 and appeared on The Ed Sullivan Show in 1964 I was not following them in their early arrival or years has I was in the other types of music, primarily classical or Jazz. Later I became involved in popular rock music in the late 1960s and started listening and Gathering their album such as let it be with the long and winding road song. As a result other Mission by Ringo Starr in 2015 on a KZbin video Falling the passage of The Beatles long-time manager George Martin he indicated that the original Paul McCartney had passed away as result of a horrible on a Buick Lucerne on November 9th 1966 which you can see on the internet or KZbin. This resulted from a disagreement and rehearsal with John Lennon at the time. The Paul McCartney we've known since that time and come to love is what is titled as Faux Paul, who was a bandleader a musician of the peppers band. He was involved in forming and producing The Beatles Sergeant Pepper's band album and other albums from that time. He was a son of a band leader and professional musician and I'll really look much like McCartney he had some differences of height and facial markings on his chin. At the time of this discovery there was a picture shown on the Internet or KZbin before the passing of the original McCartney in early 1966 in black and white they showed three personnages it looked much like the original McCartney. The successive Paul McCartney played for instruments including piano where the original McCartney was self-taught and played only the guitar. Ringo Starr's confession or was in conjunction with also that acknowledged by George Harrison before his death in the late 1990s. In studying Beatle album history on KZbin you will be informed that the Abbey Road album where Paul McCartney is shown as walking barefoot was a symbol of his passing..

The desert town he talks about in this song is Tucson, Arizona. I grew up there, still live there. His wife Linda loved it here and so did Paul. @Kel-n-Rich I realize it's just one man's opinion but I *really* think you should always expose Kel to the studio version of a song first unless its fame came from a live version. So many subtleties were lost here that it made me shrug and sigh. Much love tho.

@DarrenBaileyActor5 жыл бұрын
Totally agree. The reason the live version is enjoyable is because you've already fallen in love with the studio version and enjoy seeing/hearing it performed live. That initial love is stripped away here, and the audio quality and orchestra experience is removed.

SteadFast nEasy Yes, agreed on some songs. Band on the Run is a great example. The studio version is fantastic, better then the live (although live is decent, too). Clearer tones, actual acoustic guitars, etc. But some of his songs, such as Let em In, are actually better live.

Here is my Wings story. In 1976, I was a 21 year old college. I am in a record store in my hometown, Hicksville, NY, ABC Records. I'm going through the record bins. I find the Bs, looking to replace a worn out Beatles Album. Next to me were a few young girls maybe 14 or 15. They saw me pick out the White album. They had a Wings album in their hands. They questioned on my album, I told them it was the Beatles. They asked who was in that group, I told them. They said they never knew McCartney was in another group. My internal reaction, I'm old at 21. True Story.

SO.. You know what I love about you guys and this channel? It started as a metal/prog rock channel. And that was great. Having Kel hear all the musicianship and power of music she was not familiar with. But then something happened and you've turned it into, also, an amazing rock history lessen for Kel. I think every song, from a little known but amazing song from Jackson Brown, to Pink Floyd and ELO. Every song has been a must listen for classic classic rock history. The reason I love it is back in the eighties, my brother got me the Genesis self titled album(cassette). I was not into my own music really yet. I'm 50 remember. So a long time ago. Something happened to me where I not only went through the Genesis catalogue in like a week, But I went back to the fifties and came all the way back. From Buddy Holly, Janis Joplin, Zepplin, etc. I'm so happy that she is really getting a through history lesson. Great job.

Showing this live version to the first time hearer does them and the song itself a dis-service. @Rich don't know if you've been reading my comments. Both 'Band on the Run' and 'Silly Love Songs' demonstrate Paul's love of stitching together pieces of music into something bigger, he does this a lot. This one goes through 2 changes before getting to the main section. 'Silly Love Songs' has 3 choruses which he plays one at a time then puts them all together in a clever way. He loves medleys too.

Beatles are hands down the greatest band of all time. The most influential. Not that hits make a band great but nevertheless they are almost unbeatable there. Elvis is the only one close that beat them, but include the solo careers of all 4 no contest who was bigger. I saw Paul perform in 92. Still sounded like he did in his younger years and Linda still there. Closest a person of my generation could get to seeing the Beatles live. He was solid. I think this man is the biggest songwriter in the world. I rate him over Dylan.. I think Paul is simply amazing. That does NOT mean that i thing Dylan is of lesser talent. Bob Dylan is the greatest lyricist that has ever lived, but no one can beat Paul McCartney`s amazing melodies. Band on the run is from Paul`s biggest selling solo album. It went to no.1 all over the world. It sold over 1 million copies in the U.S. and it earned Paul another gold record. Paul McCartney has sold 600 million albums with the Beatles, and 100 million albums as a solo artist. He has also sold 100 million singles which is incredible.. He is by far the biggest selling artist in the world. I don`t think people really appreciate what a legend Paul McCartney is. He is a one off.
