I wish they would create a spin off series where the 8th Doctor could have a run of three series or so leading up to the war Doctor and giving us all feel for how things were changing prior to the time war… Paul McGann is a brilliant Doctor.. ‘The night of the Doctor’ was terrific and so tantalising a glimpse to see what could’ve been and perhaps what still could? RTD I believe is one who would and could actually make such a thing happen!

For myself I barely hear McGanns own accent, I've probably around a hundred Eighth Doctor Big Finish stories which I listen to regularly so that's how I'm used to his voice. His own accent is probably stronger here as others have said, because he's back amongst his own again and it's so easy to slip back into what you grew up with 😊 He's my favourite Classic Doctor and I was born when the Third Doctor was about 😊

honestly, I have kinda given up on the tv show after the past few years, but I am more than happy with the high quality work coming out of Big Finish, especially for the classic doctors, often developing old story lines and characters further to great affect. McGann's series have often been among the best, but Tom Baker is still pushing out an endearing Fourth Doctor that you swear was right out of the Tv series. The Third Doctor stories, with Tim Trelor's go in the title role has been better and better and just takes one back to the era seamlessly. The Sixth Doctor treatment has really given Colin a platform to establish himself and his Doctor as noteworthy, more than the show ever did. Several of the other title series, especially the War Doctor and War Master volumes are incredibly well written and exceptionally produced for the listener. It takes a few bucks to dip in, but I have almost never regretting those purchases.

The Doctor's age, skin colour and gender do not matter. That goes for the Doctor being a woman, a black man or a middle aged white man. Ncuti Gatwa will be great, but it would not have been 'wrong' for another 'middle aged white man' to play the role either. All that matters is talent

Actors as a vocation tend to remain professional, because it would be easy to alienate actors or crew who you might find yourself needing to work with. Quick-witted ones find ways to express their opinions between the lines, like I think Paul did here. But generally I'd say current actors in a role are trying harder to be careful than past ones. Especially because the current actor is often on an official publicity tour, so have some obligation to hype things up. Past Doctors are more free to speak their minds.
