It's such a pleasure to get to see PMG in that moment, as opposed to Starsky. Don't get me wrong, I *loved* Starsky when I was thirteen, and still do, but it's fascinating to hear the voice of the man behind the character.

Paul is an amazing actor, director , writer & artist! I loved him as Starsky & I enjoyed Phobia but the ending upset me so I can never watch it again. The directing he did on the episode of Deck Watch was awesome! I have never seen anyone be able to have 2 separate conversations going on at the same time. Only Paul can do that! He also directed Sweet Revenge & I loved the tag ending! Paul we love & miss you. Please get Hanky directed staring David Soul real soon as none of us are getting any younger. I hope you star in it also. We need to see the love, friendship & chemistry that you two always show to each other. We are tired of all this 6 feet apart social distancing crap that is going on in this world. We all need to fight for our country, freedom & rights! ♥️♥️

Agreed, and his phrasing of the questions was a bit jarring - saying PMG had "fallen by the wayside," or that he seemed "uptight."

Melanie Sinclair Wasn’t *that* bad - it’s a pretty good interview and Glaser seemed to be giving short answers anyway. The interviewer sensed this and encouraged him to open up with some rather thoughtful questions.

Never knew about the contract thing , what's so ironic and funny about that is , after the show ended , he would up directing Miami Vice . And guess what happened ! Don Johnson did the same thing he did regarding his contract . They threatened to get Mark Harmon to replace him if he didn't come back .
@kanikarose42684 жыл бұрын
He looked so tensed and even mad here. He sure was hard to work with back then. I really prefer him now than back in those days when success came a bit to his head.
@seanatkinson7702 жыл бұрын
You have absolutely no idea what might or might not have been going on for Paul at that time let alone assume he's looking "tense" or "mad" what a very strange thing to say about someone you don't know.

@sarahsaydee97434 жыл бұрын
That is silly. Did he really asked for that to be in his contract? how do u guys know all this? well, those sleepy blue eyes, dark curly hair he was handsome. 40 or more years ago interview he does looked sad or upset in this interview. What was the deal with him?
@RockerH25264 жыл бұрын
I seriously doubt that was a thing. He has always said in interviews that he felt that he was hired to be the ethnic guy and David was the cute one. Me, I truly beg to differ. The man was and is just as handsome as can be. I think he was just really uncomfortable being in the limelight. He had some awfully tragic times following S and H and I admire him for coming out so well on the other side.

Yes he took the show to court because he through he was going to be this massive Hollywood star, he wanted out of his contract, then when he stayed on the show he told them in his contract that he wanted to be called Handsome, Gorgeous, i think it really went to his head, i was a big fan of Starsky and Hutch!
@MellowLady2224 жыл бұрын
That's it exactly. He's very well educated and experienced in acting and evidently very shrewd, too. David Soul and he got pay raises of $30,000 per episode in season 2 because of his above-mentioned power play. They had been making just 5k an episode prior! He got to direct episodes, too. I LOVE PMG but AFTER they got more money he changed even more. Production didn't know if he was coming back to start season 3, then he sauntered into the studio and everyone was surprise. "Ole Blue Eyes."
@RockerH25264 жыл бұрын
Yes he wanted out of his contract, but came back strong to finish it out honorably. I am not sure being a massive star was anything he really wanted, I think directing was his passion. Later on he admitted he was probably wrong and things turned out as they should have. He was a young guy, and like many, had a hard time dealing with his celebrity. To his inestimable credit, Paul kept his act together thru some extremely hard times and came out a better man on the other side.

I heard that he demanded bowl fulls of pink MnM's in his dressing room, which didnt exist, so the studio had to pay the confectioner to make them especially for Paul.
