Morphy wasn’t just a genius on the board but off it too. Not sure if this was before or after he retired, he was accepted to the bar because he memorized the ENTIRE LOUISIANA CODE. For the majority who aren’t familiar, I heard someone describe it as an unholy amalgamation of French and Latin that was nearly 500 pages long.
