Man, Leno was completely star-struck during this interview. I love this. Paul Newman was such a classy human being.

I agree, he interrupts a bit too much and we are unable to hear many of Paul’s thoughts or even answers for that matter. He can’t even answer a question and he constantly got interrupted by Jay. Jeez, annoying. May he finally be able to slow down a bit and Rest In Peace, such an icon Paul is. Thankfully he will always be remembered fondly by myself and many millions more!

I have to respect the character that he displayed by choosing to not live in LA. He'd rather take his family back to New England and live in a "normal" environment than deal with the wacked out publicity freaks in the Hollywood Circus. He valued his privacy far more than the publicity that was typical in that industry. He seemed to get by "OK" in spite of staying away from the crowds. ;^)
@MrGaryGG485 жыл бұрын
@@cellardoor199991 I believe you're correct but the majority of the acting community seem to congregate in the LA area... that's where they seem to feel the work is. There are several (usually older) actors who prefer to move to a "more normal" part of the country and let their agents deal with the LA crowd.

I recollect after reading his biography 20 years or so ago he wasn't happy with the the studio with the roles he was given. Slowly he accumulated enough money to buy his way out of the contract. That took a lot of gusto which made him the legend and philanthropist. That's my vague recollection and please correct or add to . Thanks for reading.

My guess is most viewers are going to come away from this thinking Paul Newman was a so-so race driver playing around with racing. Nothing could be further from the truth! Fact is he was a top driver who drove in some of the toughest car races in the world. Luminaries like Mario Andretti considered him a very capable driver and my guess is that if he had started out earlier he may have been one of the best. Paul's daughter went to college in the town where I live in Maine and Paul and his wife used to visit her every year. They both developed a reputation among locals as good people and they literally exuded a feeling of modest friendliness. A local story has a teenage girl asking Paul for his autograph and Paul responding that he didn't give autographs because he was nobody special. When invited by a Maine magazine to comment on the Hole In The Wall cancer camp for kids he funded Paul wrote a short essay saying that he was a lucky guy who had made a lot of money and he wanted some of that money to be used for a good purpose. He then added that the people who deserved the real credit for the camp were the devoted doctors, nurses, and support people who worked with the kids. Great actor, great race car driver, and most importantly a great human being...

Pretty impressed Paul Newman loved Badminton. I’m a huuuge badminton fanatic. Consider the current Guinness book of world record speed stands at a staggering 306 mph (493 kmh) just south of 500 kmh. One player actually hit a shot that impaled a watermelon, with the shuttlecock embedded firmly in the gourd upto the tape behind the leather covered cork tip. Wow! Tres incredible! Check out ‘this is Badminton’ on Google. It will simply blow your mind, lol! Blistering, mind numbing action shot after shot too, you won’t believe. Great to see PN on Jay Leno. Jay mentioned the fact that most people are seriously deprived of the real thing lolol! They only are familiar with the outdoor ‘garden variety’ game, not sport I call ‘goodminton’. Notice I didn’t cap the word. Cheers!
