The people calling "off-brand" don't appreciate that there is a niche space for quality assurance on KZbin stock advice. How you seen how many stock advice channels are coming out of the woodwork these days? How do you scope out the good from the bad ones when you can't critique on them? This is crucial- you can't just believe any "edutainment" advice thrown out there. Keep doing us a favour, Paul.

i'm not criticizing matthew, but i want to provide an alternate to his comment. as much as i enjoyed this and subscribe to both you and sven, i'd rather you focus on detailed analysis of specific stocks. if you spend time discussing what someone else said, you turn into cnbc. i subscribe to you because you talk about specific stocks, their historical detail, and the specifics of their business. that's what i want. sadly, i do think your sub numbers would skyrocket if you went full on wwe - calling out jimmy, joe hogue, chuck carnavale, jtwealth. please don't do that. keep up the great work! and again, no offense matthew.

I started following Sven before I found your channel and i like him. His channel and now your guys' channel are the ones I really care for. Keep up the great work! His message in this video was about each individual's expectations. He clearly said he strives for more. If someone is happy with less, then, they can find something in the market right now. And this goes along with his all other videos that i usually watch. Sometimes the language barrier makes his points a bit muddy but with context, everything is clear. My little defence aside, that he does not need by the way, both he and everything money are doing an awesome job. There's a lot of trash out there that people take for gems, and gems people fail to see. Would love to see a collaboration between you guys and Sven!

13:24 This might be a stupid question, but doesn't that flat inflation rate projection really represent average inflation over time? It's more that he believes the interest rate with have that general mean over time (barring unforeseen weirdness of course). While the actual rate may jump around, I'd think that it's not worthwhile to try to model that when the general flow is what you care about.

Question: I’m new. Isn’t it better to invest in a market to get 6%, than to leave it in cash for a couple of years waiting for those better times, because it will actually lose to inflation if it isn’t invested somewhere? Not criticizing, I’m asking.

It is probably ok if can hold through a 40-50% crash in the next few years. Just remember it is 5% return averaged over next 20-30 years. So 3-4 years from now, you might still be down 20-25% of your original investment. Most people freak out and sell when haven't made any money in the stock market but losing 20-30% of their original investment.

Sven is making a point I’ve always wondered about Paul’s analysis. The low interest rate environment makes stocks still seem attractive, because treasuries pay almost nothing. The large U.S government debt, makes it likely that the Fed would keep interest rates low for decades to come. Even with “some” inflation, interest rates would likely remain low. Remember, the Fed has been below its 2% inflation target in most of the recent years. So going over 2% for some years to come, is not that bad. Since it’s mandate is 2% “average”. Having 20 P/E as a valuation point, with these low interest rates, is too conservative imo. P/E should be adjusted based on available “alternative investments” i.e treasuries pay nothing. The “20 P/E” valuation strategy, doesn’t work if you consider current overall Macro economic factors.
@danguee13 жыл бұрын
Paul is absolutely right about buying now: pure logic must tell you that you can't possibly get returns even close to what the last decade has given: a) that was starting from a over low base post-Crash, b) interest rates can't get any lower and c) surely QE/stimulus/money printing must be reined in at some point. So, get ready not necessarily for a crash - though I'd welcome a healthy correction at some point - but at least a period of calmness/flatness in the markets for a 'lost decade' or so..... [CAVEAT: unless China invades Taiwan - in which case all hell will break loose!!]

Guys, you missed one important point about "lost decade". Suppose, you keep dollar cost averaging in to index funds all through that lost decade of 2000-2010 (of course requires lot of patience), you might have accumulated all the units at cheap prices all of that 10yrs. You hold all those units and watch what happened from 2010-2021.

This approach is really refreshing. I look at the market and say "is this sustainable?", but anytime you try to make that case it seems you're painted as a bear or fear-monger. Sven makes a great case that, yes, it's totally sustainable if you're interested in a 5-6% return. That is, as long as you're disciplined enough to stay in the market even when things collapse, as Paul says. What Paul talked about here really changed the way I'm going to invest going forward. I'm new to this, but I was quite scared of assets going higher and higher and me being left on the sidelines. But Paul is absolutely right: what goes up must come down. I'm not holding a huge cash position, but I'm holding a lot more cash than I would have before seeing this video. I'm looking forward to being disciplined and waiting for a good entry point. Thanks for the great work as always!

@@EverythingMoney Hey Paul. Really glad I saw this video because today was an absolute bloodbath, and I expect more of the same sooner or later. One question for you, if you see this - what's your metric for a good entry point? Do you just look at the fundamentals (price to free cash flow, PE, etc.) and decide to buy based on that? Or are you looking at broader marker trends to decide when we might be at a bottom or approaching bottom?

the thing that cracked me up is when speculative youtubers were saying you cant have cash at all because you are losing due to inflation. so they instead had all of their money into stocks that were going down in price dramatically earlier this year. and it was obvious it was going to continue dropping, and they thought holding those stocks protected you from that. lol and they were sitting there saying "you people in cash right now are idiots because you are losing because of inflation". almost like they didnt realize they were losing to inflation too, and getting killed by their stocks crashing

According to which metrics do you believe this market is MORE overpriced than 2000 market? In March 2000, the P/E for the Nasdaq was a sky-high 175, today it sits at around 35-40. Interest rates are at 0 now ant they were somewhere around 5% in 2000. Not saying that this market is not overpriced, but to say that it is more overpriced than 2000 seems incorrect.
