I bought all the Beatle Cd's for my 11 year old grandson. He loves it, he asked me about John. I had to tell him he was killed in 1980. He looked at me and said " why would anyone want to kill him "? I could hear myself stammer a little and said " I don't know why they would ". Such a loss..

The other Paul was only born in 1989?!? I'm not old, but just hearing that definitely makes me feel old!!! I was in high school in 1989 and still waiting for the rest of the Beatle records to be released on CD. Hell, I got my first CD player in '89!

Very interesting listening to Mr Smith. I would have thought that Andy Babiuk would be a real great guest. I bet he'd do it.

Words are failing me right now -but… Ok here goes…. Whenever I hear people talk about Beatles recordings… and which instrument/mic/amp etc went into making those songs, I don’t really come away with what truly made the songs as vibrant as what we all enjoy from those records. There seems to be a desire to match the past … and somehow recreate a moment where the very practitioners (The Beatles) wanted to sound anything like that of the past! Sure.. “When I’m 64” was a fallback among others. But what I’m getting at is that if you listen to Geoff Emerick interviews, it was the engineers that came up with the sounds that the creatives (The Beatles) “heard” in the minds eyes/ears. We all know the thrill of coming up with something new. It’s exciting because it’s really where the story comes from, not the instruments or the mics. I totally get the desire to “be” in the past. I’ve been in Beatles soundalike bands and even now, am doing a 3D animation where 4 of me go on the Ed Sullivan stage (the one with the arrows) and play an early Beatles influenced song. And so yes I try to get the closest version of what they would sound like on stage without the thousands of dollars it costs to buy the “real” instruments. I’ve spent a ton of time researching mic placements/amps/the whole ordeal. And little by little it’s taken its form… but in the back of my mind, it’s the story behind it that continues to develop with a “mind of its own” that drives me forward. Now … this may be a weird thing for me to say at this point but….keep going guys! You’ll find the past… but I’m looking forward to what you all will come up with in the future! From what I’ve seen/heard you all sound like good musicians. You definitely have good taste. What’s next? Isn’t that what our heroes always asked? Take care :)

From what I've seen PRS's don't have scratch plates. You can't have a guitar without a scratch plate, it's like not having a V8 in a Mustang.

@@GearThereEverywhere Smith didn't even add anything to the conversation about gear he just kept saying things like "oh man The Beatles are unbelievable, man this song was great". The whole interview left me thinking this guy is dementia riddled and needs to be put in a home.
