Brings back happy memories from the the time when I walked with my 15 kilogram rucksack from Llanfairfechan to Aberystwyth in june/july 1990. Back in the eighties I studied history and medieval languages, and one of those languages was Middle Welsh, so I wanted to trek through Cymru. I still remember the first sentence that I learned in Middle Welsh: Kerdet a orugant y dyd hwnnw hyd ucher. God save your Queen and may God save our King! Best wishes from the Netherlands (Yr Iseldiroedd)! Thank you most kindly for your videos!

@@Snakesborough Irish is no longer an organic language whereas Welsh is spoken as the first tongue right across North Wales.

In 1979, I was employed as the seasonal 'Assistant Harbour-Master' of Conwy, under the late Lieut. Commander Brian Halliday , and lived in Llys Sychnant. It is great to see it in your video, Paul. Conwy is one of the jewels of Wales. Plas Mawr was the home of the Royal Cambrian Academy: not sure if it still is. We used to dine at ALFREDO'S in Lancaster Square. Truly envy you being there on such a glorious day. Of course, back in the 1970s it was also a notorious 'bottle-neck' on the A55: now relieved by the tunnel beneath the river.

Paul and Mike, I think your new microphone might be just TOO good. The wind often drowned out Paul’s commentary. You must find a way to stop that.

There were no Welsh insurgents; you can't be an insurgent in your own country. The English were the invaders illegally occupying Wales.
@paulrimmer28535 жыл бұрын
It was actually a Welsh Army led by Normans. Edward brought the bowmen up from the Valleys.
@paulrimmer28535 жыл бұрын
Legality in the Middle Ages came from the Pope downwards. Edward was the legal ruler of the British Isles.
