Paul Roberts - The Stobie - 100 Years and Going Strong

In 1924, James Cyril Stobie solved a uniquely South Australian problem. He would not have realised the impact of his invention and its status as a South Australian icon. In 2024 we celebrate his invention and its resilience and service over 100 years.
Paul Roberts will be a familiar face to many members due to his role as spokesman for SA Power Networks over the past 16 years. Paul has had a long career in media, corporate affairs and communications spanning more than 45 years.
While Paul recently stepped away from his role at SA Power Networks, he retains an unhealthy interest in the power industry, its importance in South Australia’s development and the key role of the Stobie pole.
As a singer songwriter he has been involved in a long-running project writing songs about Adelaide and its history, people and events including a song ‘In Praise of the Stobie’.
