There are some of us Northern Irish folk who will correct you cause that's like us calling a Scottish man, English even though there's a border, I'll personally correct someone but not because I'm against the Irish simply because I'm teaching people there's a border separating us, some people laugh at me especially the English till I start calling them Scottish and they get offended or confused and I say we'll your on the same bita land as Scotland so your Scottish I then tell them, now they understand the point I'm making, some are still adamant that I'm Irish then I realise not all humans use the brain their born with🤣

Northern Irish is a sub-category of Irish. Don't mean any offense but it's just like everyone in the island of Britain is British. Everyone on the island of Ireland is Irish. I understand you feel British yourself due to your ancestors being from Britain but it doesn't change the fact that you were born on the island of Ireland. Also Donegal has the same accent as people from large parts of Derry. Many people from South Armagh have a pretty southern sounding accent. There is no "northern Irish accent" it doesn't make any sense. Someone from County Derry sounds a lot more like someone from Donegal rather than someone from Belfast, who sounds completely different to them both.
