I picked up Tekken 7 for Ps4 last week and I haven't played in 10 or 12 years. I found your channel and you make Tekken much less intimidating to understand. I did my first online match 3 days ago and I can't stop. you may not have a million subs but you do great tutorials and make the game mechanics simple to understand.

The spring kick doesnt work because of axis. If you ever notice in matches when you try to spring kick against an opponent on your side, the spring becomes impossible and so its substituted for a normal wakeup kick. Would be nice to spring away from an off axis opponent but it just isnt a thing in this game. Its the same as ground stomps not being accessible if the opponent is standing

Great video. I didn't know about the side step left kick and will be trying it out tonight. I would add that Paul's forward 1+2 overhand punch is pretty devastating to ducking opponents after twist and shout. After mind jobbing people with down, back 2 for a while it's very effective once they start ducking to avoid it. Ohh I've won so many matches that way lol. Oh and spring kickers get a double dose of twist and shout. 😂 Update a year later: Omg this shit is devastating to opponents. I must've won hundreds of matches with this oki alone. Thanks!

On the spring kick thing, I would guess that with the sidestep left the opponent is back turned and I don't think you can spring kick from feet away input 3+4 from FUFA and I think you get the BT get up 3

Thanks for the insight Guitar Dog!
@Guitar-Dog3 жыл бұрын
Not insight lol just a guess, would need to lab back turned get ups to find out
@EmanueleCappello3 жыл бұрын
Yep, it's exactly what happens. I used to be an abuser of spring kicks so I noticed that when you are off-axis when you put in the input, the system doesn't allow you to do that, switching to a low kick. This is because of something you explained in one of your older videos, @@PeterYMao: since spring kick is "turned off" the system switches to a different move. Since the input for SK is 3+4, the input switches to 3, i.e. the low wake up kick.

The reason why the spring kick doesnt work is just becuase of the axis the ssl puts you in
@PeterYMao3 жыл бұрын
Yeah I figured as much based on a guess. It's like just enough where you can't spring kick.
@lazytommy03 жыл бұрын
This is the short answer yes lol. I left a more detailed answer though in case people were interested
@TheReqyem3 жыл бұрын
Yup it registers as if you were on the characters side, in that case spring kick cannot happen and then it choses to do a wake up kick.
@10_Bit3 жыл бұрын
For the spring kick dilemma I think when Paul SSL after the throw he forces an oki situation called FUFA (Face Up Feet Away) which in turn makes the one grounded (your opponent) back turned in this situation because of the weird angle they are in after being thrown to the ground. Since grounded back turned opponents can't spring kick.
@PeterYMao3 жыл бұрын
Yeah it messes with the angles so they can't spring kick, you're right :)

I know Paul user is very greedy, but twist and shout will rarely work at the floor break stage. People just mash 1+2 to avoid Paul's throws. The thing about Paul is when people see Paul sidestep, they know 90% Paul will do sidestep 3 low kick. Typically, they just lay down and willing to eat db+2 (small damage) or they will do the poking low kick d4 to get up. If you cannot break throws, just mash 1+2 on the floor break stage or 1 near the wall to avoid his damage.
@PeterYMao3 жыл бұрын
That's where SS qcb+2 comes into play or SS into extremely delayed 3. d/b+2 I wouldn't exactly call small damage. Small damage is like 10 damage or something. Even if you don't get a floor break, a throw is a throw and it's damage.

Hi , Peter I am playing online Paul as a main and also Bryan and Feng and I want to learn other characters with similar base or playstyle with those. I have tried Dragunov and Fakhumarn and did't like them. any suggestions ?
@PeterYMao3 жыл бұрын
Paul, Bryan, and Feng all play very very differently. I'm not sure what aspect of their playstyle you mention make them have things in common. Paul is an all around versatile character, Bryan is a spacing counter hitting character, and Feng is a aggressive poking / pressure monster. They are all very different, so I can't exactly recommend you a character that all 3 of these characters encompass.

In theese days, Paul is way more popular then before, becouse he is technically buffed, if you compere to other tekkens.. Well it's kinda confusing, because of the system changes, Paul get strong hit, by hand from god. And those general rules in T7, like homing attacks and tailspin properties, RA(Paul's unique cancel)makes him way better then before... Literally without any specific changes in his game plan and movlist. So conclusion is, Paul it's not that much different then previous tekkens, but T7-system, promote for a class higher then before. More or less, he is even easier to play now, because of this new T7 system. for example King, has pretty much same situation, from difficult character in older tekkens. Now. King is way easier, then before use to be.
