Paul Verhoeven is very interesting to listen to, and his movies are very daring and true to life. I hope we will see some more God films from him!

In this three hour interview he also mentioned he is a huge fan of Rammstein. There was a clip of the show in Nimes where "French people loudly sing along with the German lyrics", which he found very funny. That the history of both nations was wiped away with the music of Rammstein. :D Anyway there must be a way to see the whole broadcast somewhere. The show is called Zomergasten and is three hours long.

Don't forget that Paul Verhoeven studied physics, so he knows what he is talking about.

Dr. Verhoeven might be the most intelligent person to ever direct a Hollywood science fiction movie, second only to Kubrick probably.

Pity I will never have a talk with Paul. He is the first person that thinks exactly the same about what is behind our death. And especially that it mighy get even worse,instead of nothing.Therefore I hope there will be nothing. Just nothing, so also not "floating around"in space in total solitary with feelings.Brrr. Man what a sick and cruel phenomania this life. Very depressing thoughts also.

0:37 I would say, We all die, it is a fact of life, there is no denying it. We will all meet our maker. If I could give something of warmth abouth death it would be a question; do you remember what life was like before you were born? No? Do you remember what life is like while you sleep without dreaming? No? That is death. The people who are dead don't know they're dead! They're just sleeping. And all forever... May they and WE one day rest.

thanks man. unfortunately not until I learn Dutch will I be able to understand what they're talking about had I seen the entire thing. But thanks for this excerpt. I guess you can say he's obsessed with death as a theme in his life, but then we all possess certain levels of idiosyncrasies. I like him, can't wait to see how Entertainment Experience turns out, not to mention his next film - whatever it may be.
@harrychalcraft63713 жыл бұрын
Yes, like living in denial I suppose, to obsessively focus on my work instead of thinking about death too much. To protect my own autonomy. During such a creative process I don't tend to think about the cruel death in our universe that often. It is a coping mechanism of mine to protect myself against getting into a state of psychosis. Reconsidering my contributes to this universe and give it all back in the end would be one of the logical options. While another option would be an afterlife that brings us ten times more hell than what we experiences on earth. I don't suppose the Human Race would have so many ideas about Hell without any reason, no? The dreams we discussed earlier about my visions of hell are as real to me as they can get. They show a much more dreadful universe with so much pain, nothing on earth could match these drastic proportions. You might better start hoping that there would be no afterlife at all. Yes, I believe that there is nothing that comes afterward. And after all this shit, at least I don't have to think about this crap when I'm making a movie.

whole broadcast was 3 hours long, due to copyrights it was only broadcasted once. Bottomline is that he is pretty disturbed.... almost insane if you ask me.. The man is a genius however, so it comes with the territory.

Image result for interlocking your fingers Holding hands while interlocking fingers denotes an innate closeness. I understand that he has a PhD in mathematics and he’s a notorious Hollywood movie director but his views over the afterlife are painfully poor and deplorable I would say.
@ReneAltena3 жыл бұрын
He studied Mathematics and Physics at Leiden University in the Netherlands and obtained his MSc title there. This title is abbreviated 'drs' in the Netherlands, which is NOT a PhD. So sorry to say it is not 'dr Verhoeven', but drs Verhoeven (dutch) or Verhoeven MSc (english).
