BB18 ¼ 1079 - Driver Training runs to Bowen Hills and Ebenezer - June 2024

In June 2024 over the course of 4 days, Queensland Rail conducted a series of driver training using steam locomotive BB18 ¼ 1079. The train sprinted into Brisbane City for first time in 4 years, before heading west to the former coal loading facility at Ebenezer and returning back to the Ipswich Railway Workshops.
This is a compilation of videos filmed over 3 of the 4 days.

Wonderful memories of a bygone era. I had two years of travelling to high school by steam train. I love the sound of them, as they evoke so many memories. I also love the smell of the burnt coal and the steam. Nostalgia.

I spent two years travelling by steam train to high school and these evoke so many wonderful memories. Nothing like a steam train to bring out the nostalgia in an old bloke.

Another good video, hopefully this is a sign that QR might be considering going further afield than Grandchester. I don’t know why they don’t advertise these trips so the general public can travel on them, that way they could make some money which go towards the cost of the train crew. They must know a week or so out that they are going to run a trip, I for one would pay up as I think it would be a good round trip. People could start and finish the trip at the workshops.

So great to see this vid .. thanx heaps .. I saw this fetching green / red combo choof past at Roma St & wondered what was happening .. and how quickly she came back pointing in the other direction (Is there a turning loop out there somewhere ??) .. the photography and especially audio just deeelicious .. we can see and hear the thing beautifully and be awed by the marvel of it !! Thanx again ..

I've always wanted to get the fabled Boeing C17 passing C17 974 shot at Karrabin :) But a C130J will suffice
