Elden Ring: Shadow of Erdtree Review - Oh Come On You Knew It’d Be Amazing

Elden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree is out and I’ve been playing it a lot. This is a review in progress as the game is so massive and I had to split time with Final Shape so it’s not quite as complete as it could be. And I legitimately need some help finding some of the stuff in this massive map lol

Would you say that the area design/level design is of higher quality than the base game? I think that the world being more interconnected with verticality seems pretty cool. It had a little bit of that in the base game but it seems that its pretty prominent here.

Dang, a Fromsoft DLC is 30-50+ hours long of high quality content for $40. Meanwhile, Hellblade 2 is only 5 hours long for $50 which is mostly watching cutscenes and the little gameplay that it has consists of walking forward in high fidelity and basic self-solving puzzles while people screaming useless information in your ears non-stop smh

The Final Shape is $100 and Shadow of The Erdtree is $40. Idk where Bungie gets off thinking that $50 for half an expansion and $50 for the other half spread through a year is reasonable, but Fromsoft just gave me a reminder of a fair price point for a game in terms of quality.

The tough part is it all depends on your personality type. I’m an everything completionist type person and I don’t have a whole lot of time and I think my playthrough is 120 hours and I’m a souls veteran who doesn’t find the game hard. Realistically if you pick one build and a few weapons off the bat and plow through the game is relatively short for a souls game.
