You often hear people talk about how calm Rybakina is, but few talk about how mentally tough she is. Her ability to stay ice cool under pressure and not get down on herself makes her one of the mentally toughest players in the WTA.

I agree. Paula is playing very well! But she needs to stop the looks, the dropping of the shoulders, and all the negative body language. That kind of disposition bleeds your confidence in matches. When she trusts herself just a little more, regardless of the scoreboard -- or a shot that went wide -- she will experience her true potential! Feel proud Paula!

She wins matches hardly, she looses matches hardly, she doesn't give up. She has the fighting spirit, for which we needed seriously in the recent years of women tennis elite. There is always battle with her. I have no opinion on that but I will say given that you brought up an issue I didn't bring up I find it weird that you think Elena will just disappear on grass. Maybe, because I can't predict the future, but why would you say that given that she won Wimbledon last year? There's nothing wrong with being very impressed with a player that's caught my attention. There shouldn't be a requirement that they have to stick around at a very high level for a certain period of time before I can become a fan. She plays beautiful tennis, I love her composure and her mental and physical strength. Whatever happens in the future, no one can take away the amazing things she's already done in her career. Do you have any idea how few players win any Grand Slams, make it to the final of any Grand Slams, and win any WTA 1000s?

@@smurfette1509 Good comment. Elena actually said grass is one of her best surfaces and her Wimbledon victory supports that. She can also play well on clay (beat Serena 2 years ago in the third round) but can improve.

Just wow Elena is going places, this champion quality of hers in her mental strength is just incredible like wow, she is really grinding outside these matches and when she goes into clutch mode, it's just a joy to watch calm and cool but faces adversity head on no fear I love it

Rybakina is just genuine! She was not in her form today but finally she found the way to win. This is the thing champions show us. Padosa looks like she is in trouble how to find the finish line though her specific skills are amazing‥

Rybakina reminds me of Iga at this tourney last year - challenged throughout, not always playing her best tennis, but when push comes to shove, she finds ways to win. Will be interesting to see if she can complete the Sunshine Double like Iga did last year. She'll have to play better, though, against some tough competition.

If she gets mentally ruthless, her superior & graceful technique & power is above current WTA level.

Rybakina improved a lot this year. Iga is now no match to Rybakina even to Sabalenka. 🤭

@@freakyfredy6597 They adapted to her and exploited her weaknesses. Rybakina is 23 and Sabalenka 24. Iga is 21. Last year, people joked that Sabalenka wouldn't ever get past her semi-final woes, and then she won AO this year after adapting her game. Great players can do that. Iga is definitely not as strong as either player right now, but she can adapt just as they did and potentially beat them again (she beat Sabalenka 3 times last year). I think she will. We'll see.

@@postive-vibes this is exactly what she is doing now, adapting to Barbara, Sabalenka and Rybakina. Of course she has an injury but do not think she lies at home playing PS5 (or rather reading books 😉)

If you are wondering how Elena won the second set and then won the match - Elena's winning game plan for this match was to return Paula's serves to Paula's backhand side, especially her second serves.

Amazing game , Badosa gave everything she could with talent but when Rybakina is playing well she throws unreachable shots . And she also proved that she is mentally growing stronger !

Humble, polite, soft spoken, not to mention a great player with a ticket to becoming the no.1 seed. There are some people that do not like her because of her lack of emotion on the court, but she has the prettiest smile on the circuit and she's there to do her job which is winning.Cheers Elena!❤
