The gold you captured in this lean synopsis is fantastic, but I would like to add one thing to this, Paul. Back in 2014, I emailed you a question about how you used to handle scheduling custom projects when you had your shop and you challenged me HUGE with your answer. ONE PIECE FLOW. One kitchen per month in your case. I thought that this would be impossible since it seemed we always had to have several going on just to get by, but I chose to be humble about this and dive in. It has taken time to fully transition, but we set our compass to that destination and pressed on. By doing this, we have cut our backlog down from 4 months to 4 to 6 weeks and we now complete a project for a client in 2 weeks vs the 6 - 8 weeks it was taking before ONE PIECE FLOW and lean. MIND BLOWN. And we're not done...not by a long shot! Thanks Paul!

Not everyone is a fan of one piece flow. If the cycle time for machinery is faster with batches, the logic of one piece flow is lost.

Hi Paul, I have watched a number of the Lean videos, and can appreciate the sentiment and mindset of the system. I used to work in restaurants and a retirement care home, and also on a personal level, waste drove me up a wall. But after seeing the examples put forth, I can still make improvements to my everyday life. First is to de-clutter, then it is all down hill after that. Keep up the good work. Sam

Hey, it's not everyday that you get to offer a Lean suggestion to Paul Akers!!!!!! Here's mine. RE, the toothpaste discussion at the end of this video: Put a pea-sized bit of toothpaste onto your brush, then push that small amount INTO the bristles with your tongue. That small amount is ALL you need. This method is faster and there's a lot less waste. The picture the toothpaste manufacturers have on the boxes of a HUGE gob of toothpaste covering the entire surface of the bristles, (with the little Dairy Queen doodle at both ends if you're good) is to sell more toothpaste. You do NOT need that much. BTW, I'm a dentist, and I've been having a blast applying Lean thinking in my office over the last 6 months, ever since I discovered Paul Akers and 2 Second Lean. This week, we're going to start the book as a team, one chapter/week. Thanks, Paul.

Hey Paul! Big fan. I’ve been doing lean for about a year now, and it’s really added value to my life. I run a small business, and when we bring on a new hire I was wondering if you had a video we could share that explained the basics of lean, and how to apply it. Currently we are sharing a 1.5 hour video seminar you taught, and we have had feedback that the lean video we use could be more lean. Any suggestions on a good starter video for lean? Thank you so much! I appreciate you!
