able76 - I was just thinking the same thing and then saw your comment. Kerry Washington is a guest on Seth Meyers tonight - she'd be perfect to play June. Would love to see a movie produced and directed by the same team who did "Bohemian Rhapsody" about Queen. Loved seeing your comment - made my evening!

They should also be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame as well since they did so many genres of music it's difficult to pin the Pointer Sisters to just one music genre.

Saw them Vancouver 2014. June had passed. A daughter is now in the trio. They just electrified the crowd. I had forgotten how good and how significant their music is. They hit it big after the flame of Motown had gone out. Sanfran girls.They are the last and most exiting of any of the African American female groups that we were blessed with in the 60's , 70's or 80's. An honor and thrill to see them! Total professionals too!

The break down routine at 2:27 thru 2:51 was on point. Anita and Ruth enclose around June singing, displaying that bond between sisters and then slowly separate as June re-emerges...flawless.

the paris concert of the pointer sisters from the early 1980`s is even livelier, also on youtube. great variety in their singing....ruth has the best soul voice...anita is a terrific country singer and june could really rock it, as here and in paris. memorable.

Ruth lives in my small town in MA. What a nice lady! One day she came into the store where I work and I couldn't help it I said, "I love you Ruth Pointer!". She was actually surprised anyone recognized her. we talked for a while and have on several more occasions. They really were the bomb. Too bad June couldn't shake her demons.
@da-railsmith882810 жыл бұрын
Yeah I hate June died, I would have love to have seen all four of them together again!
@samidellaidella53210 жыл бұрын
***** Truly! Back in the day when people had to have talent to have record contracts. On those few occasions when we spoke I told Ms. Sayles (Ruth) that I can't remember a time when I didn't not know of their music; whether it was the pinball cartoon on Sesame Street, their hits in the '70's or '80's in movies/TV (remember them on Carol Burnett?). The Sisters' children/grandchildren back them up now as well as perform on their own and the are really talented too, but what I wouldn't give to go back in time to circa 1977 to see all of the girls healthy, together and at their prime. I really cringe at 99% of the so called music today with the Auto tune and dancing/pornography distractions to divert your attention away from the fact that these kids today can't sing. Nice to know there are still some kindred souls still left!- Sammi
