Hi Paula , Your house is Beautiful! I love Byers Choice too. I have the Scrooge set, and a firefighter and lamplighter plus accessories. Years ago I picked out ones that actually looked like my family. A Skier with a mustache like my husband, long straight haired skater like me, teenage boy and girl with ski's and ice-skates, a boy toddler in a little sled and a snowman. Your furniture collection is beautiful too. I admired it when I was out shopping one day. Very comfy and classic. Also I think you're right about those planters. I love unique things like that. Thrifting and second hand stuff is so much fun,

I think you and Eddy are right on the tall tapered baskets. When I saw it I knew what it was. Lol. I’m from the hills of KY and when we brought our family home (fancy people used funeral homes I guess) we had our family at homes. These were used and then onto the cemetery.

Hi Pam, We have a Cabin in the Rocky Mountains of Colorado near Copper Ski Resort- not that I can ski but My husband did when he was younger . Just to let you know we got over 2ft. Of snow - which we needed badly ! Now we have to dig out!! We have n’t had to do that in years. Climate change is for real!!When we were first married we always had more then 4 ft. of snow so this is a change. Thanks for asking ! I talk to much. Happy Holidays!! Custom drapes are fabulous. I had made for my home and the interlining they put in had an acoustical property and quieted down the bedroom. Every time I walked into the room I loved it. So worth it.

Your exactly correct , the weaved baskets on the porch , were used to hold flowers for the deceased, either in the house normally the living room, their bed , or as my great grandfather in the yard. The funeral home loaned them to the family if they were unable to pay for a container of flowers as nice looking as the flower baskets in the wire holders. Those are the first ones I've seen in years an years, my greatgrand father had them around his casket I was about 8 when he passed ,I'm 74 now ..keep those safe. They're beautiful.

Paula your house is beautiful! I love antiques as well & have many that were in my family for 2-300 years. Those planters that you have out on your porch were used to hold fragrant flowers for around the dead body for mourning. My uncle was a funeral director & had them in his parlor. I remember as a child asking him what they were cuz they were in a corner empty & they looked different than other urns for flowers. He had them in his family for a long time so you are correct about that. I also love that you collect Byers Choice cuz they are made in my state of Pennsylvania. You can even take a tour of the place. Maybe you could get them to make a Paula Dean doll. Have a Merry Christmas!

I feel for you over the ornaments. I had all of my grandmothers antique ornaments on my tree and my two-year-old son decided to climb my tree that year and my whole tree come crashing down and I thought it was the end of the world, I cried for days there was no saving them because they were all so fragile. Just thinking about it now brings a tear to my eyes they were so sentimental to me. Boys, my daughter would never dreamt of climbing my tree I tell you LOL That screened in back porch is my dream. I have always wanted one but living in Las Vegas it’s just not a feasible thing and then to have your own named brand furniture out there it’s just perfection. Let me leave you with a funny story. We had a swing on our balcony that my husband and I would sit on every night because we have a perfect view of the strip from our back balcony and we were swinging and just talking you know like you do and all of a sudden we went back and so did the swing LOL that damn thing broke on us backwards, we weren’t hurt whatsoever but it was quite a shock and we laughed and laughed. Our kids came over to see it and said what were you doing mom and I said if I told you you wouldn’t want to know, knowing that we weren’t doing anything but swinging.😉 I found it to be my purpose in life to embarrass my kids.
