Finally! I was on first day there and keep an eye spotting you but never saw you. Next year you'll have to make a official meeting! Oh - next year the Spiel will be started on October 3rd, which is a national holiday in germany, so prepare that it will get even more crowded!

Thank you for sharing your experience at Essen! I hope to one day take my family to Germany to see some of the beautiful sights. We just got new passports recently and are going to Europe soon. On a sidenote: I'm glad you noticed that the event promo art was AI generated. I understand trying to save money but it's kind of insulting to a community that include some of the best artists in any medium. Get some art you can afford or ask if you could use some of the art from some of the vendors present. I'm glad Spiel has a successful event and hope next year goes well too. I just hope they do better next time.

Same! The art was disappointing to say the least. I believe it was created by an outside company they hired to do their app/promotions but... they still had to approve it and it was just bad art all around. Enjoy your trip to Europe! It will be so much fun!

@@PaulaDeming there's this funny trick with German words where if there are two vowels next to each other they make the sound of the second letter. So in Mainz the emphasis is on the 'i'. When I lived in Wiesbaden the 'e' was the emphasis. That's not even getting into w sounding like v.

yes, this was from this past October, 2023. I am still masking in very crowded situations for my own health and comfort. It's my choice and I haven't been getting sick at conventions so I'm pretty happy with it.
