The "she's standing right next to you" is one of the best lines in action movies. This guy is not using irony, no twisted words, no empty threats, nothing. Was crystal clear that if Bourne wanted her dead, she'll be dead by now. Great acting by all of them.

That’s why I believe Bourne films are the best in “secret agent” genre. He is not messing around: no falling in love with every woman he meets (like Bond), not making any jokes with your enemies. He is dedicated and can’t be stopped. He can be everywhere and nowhere at the same time - he could be literally watching you leave your hotel room or through the scope of his rifle. You can’t find him - he will always be somewhere much ahead of you. I could watch these films without any actions scenes even - just where he does his investigations/escapes are interesting enough

perfectly perfectly written. I could watch these kind of films over and over without actions. It's considered one of if not best secret agent films of all time. No stupid messing around. No falling in love with woman like (bond). No comedic joking around with your enimies. I can go on and on

Jason Bourne is a very good example of how good action movies used to be made , simple action and brain power splashed on a film , bad ass dialogue and some simplistic but realistic and relatable intense scenes , it was amazing and I am proud to even experience and enjoy these old movies again and again , when it comes to movies I do love living in the past .

In many aspects, I agree. But the movies also started this horrible trend with all the extremely short cuts, extreme close-ups and shaky cams so you can't actually follow what's going on. Whatever is supposed to be accomplished _for the viewer_ can be done better with some other method, without unnecessary confusion (even intended confusion can be done better). Which implies that the _actual_ intent is something like hiding stuff the actor(s) couldn't do (fight scenes are all too commonly done this way now, instead of with wide-angle and long cuts so you can actually see the movements (and mistakes) of the fighters), or the crew lacked the abilities/funds/... to use other methods.

He knows how to get their attention. If he knows that, he's got eyes on them, but they do NOT have eyes on him. He is one step ahead of them and now they know that. Implicit message: don't BS me. They try. And, again, he manages to get ahold of Nicki without them seeing him. Again, he's one step ahead of them. That's why I love this move. These folks are NOT the Keystone Kops. They're competent folks, very good at what they do. But he's outsmarting them every step of the way.

The thing about Jason Bourne as compared to James Bond is that Bourne is quiet. No loud explosions, no weird gadgets. Bond is good with explosions, gadgets, and gunfire and I like Bond for those, but Bourne is more like a shadow that can walk alongside you and you'll never know. Besides, I'm a little biased towards Jason Bourne because his fictional surname is my family name 😁

Jason is a weapon where bond is dependent on his gadgets to get him out of a tight spot, both characters are free thinkers meaning if situation occurs seems that they make quick and right decisions, but Bourne can play bond but bond would be unmatched to play Bourne in hand to hand conflicts. They both have superiors- bond uses women to get information where Jason is trying to find himself and his women are more companions.
@SancLunatic
@SancLunatic 2 жыл бұрын
Jason Bourne isnt a spy. He's an assassin. They can be spies but their objectives are mainly to infiltrate to kill targets. A spy's objectives are more to infiltrate or go undercover for information or to prevent a war or some crisis. Sometimes they aren't necessarily trained or even physically fit to be assassins. James Bond is kind of a bad depiction of both as his movies are more about entertaining cinematics than anything really realistic.

In 2002’s “The Bourne Identity,” our protagonist wakes up having been shot and plucked, unconscious, from the Mediterranean on to a fishing boat with no memory of who he is or how he got there. From there, the movie franchise follows Jason Bourne as he recovers memories of past events and rediscovers his identity. But, although Bourne’s amnesia at the start of the first film in the series is profound (and profoundly important to the unfolding story), we quickly learn that there are some things Bourne does remember from his past. For example, how to speak multiple languages, how to drive and how to fight. All of these are complex motor tasks that he learned before he was shot and fell in to the water. This aspect of Bourne’s amnesia is actually quite accurate. For people with “organic” amnesia (where neurological memory loss is typically due to damage to the medial temporal lobes in the brain), memory for skills and habits is intact, even though other memories are lost. There is truth to the cliché that you never forget how to ride a bicycle.

My fav scene and the epitome of bourne's intelligence is when he cold calls different hotels to find where landey is staying and when he finds out the hotel he doesn't just go up to counter and ask for room number but does some amazing spy work to find out her room number from where he follows her to her office and then calls her to arrange a meet just to get some more answers. The writing is just phenomenal.

How many of you recall Ken Follett's "Six Days of the Condor" which was made into "Three Days of the Condor" with Redford, Cliff Robertson, Faye Dunaway? Redford's character wasn't a field officer... but he was incredibly bright. Field craft keeps your brain from making mistakes... your conditioned not to do the same thing. Redford survived because the Company didn't assume he was capable. Jason Bourne was however a finally tuned field operative.. without a control. They should've been terrified

Yes, he was an analyst with a group of others who read books and write up their opinions on the scenarios. One he wrote up was one the CIA was working on and sent a hit man to take out the entire group but Redford had gone out to get them lunch. At the end was great between him and Robertson, personally I'd have taken Max von Snydow's offer. No CGI just good action, acting and suspense, difficult choice to choose which was better, Condor or Bourne.

No doubt,the bourne series outsmarts many of the Bond movies .Bourne is portrayed as a no nonsense guy,he got unbelievable skills. Having said all that,it is really baffling to see that the supposedly best secret service in the world would choose such an office where anybody could see them through lens doing what they want to hide from the world. That kinda office might suit some interior designing/IT company ,most certainly not a secret service agency.

True, they could have covered their tracks better and they should have known better. But then again, Bourne is an agent that the CIA underestimates because of their hubris. If it seems best suited as a IT/interior designing company, then that serves the mission best.

I'm a bit confused as to how you think this is true to the books. Bourne is different, the main antagonist is not Treadstone, just one guy and that's only for one book. The main antagonist of the books doesn't even exist in the movies. Bourne isn't a stable person with amnesia as portrayed in the movies. He is David Webb and he's nearly schizophrenic from the trauma of what he went through and has borderline personality disorder. He has literal arguments in his own head with "Jason Bourne" who whispers into his mind to let him take over. In two when Marie dies was the last straw. In the books if Marie dies "Jason Bourne" takes over and kills EVERYONE. We see this. He's so far gone that he doesn't even recognize Marie when Marie is standing right in front of him begging him to stop.
