I think by the first notes of the Toccata all music lovers know what it is. Came here from seeing Gilmour playing the 1st 4 notes of Shine on, then went zo Beethovens 5th and those 1st 4 notes. The Toccata is the most known of Bachs works. Genius all of them!

Bach probably composed this piece on his pedal harpsichord in the comfort of a warm room in his home. .churches had no heating so keyboards were cold during cold winters. And. Who was going to pump the. Bellows as there was no electricity in his church in Leipzig nor heating. Aren't we lucky to have modern technologies. Schweizer once wrote that the opening statements announces the birth of Christ...interesting comment..

I love this interpretation. The pauses between the beginning melodies is just perfect. I believe that the spaces are a part of what makes this amazing: a slow descent to hell (or whatever you want to interpret it as) but amazing interpretation as always

С мотрю на исполнителя, как молодой, совсем ещё юнный может управлять махиной легко без труда. Как из под его хрупких рук звучат ноты написанные Бахом. Громкие торжественные,, больше громогласные, их звуки, вызывают смятение в груди, они там просто не помещаются, рвутся наружу, куда то ввысь.
