This is Faith's song that Pau learned just for this performance. And she nailed it of course.

Pau was too nervous at age 14? 15? to turn in an application for the Hits Like A Girl int'l drumming contest. A coupla years later HLAG reached out to Pau and asked her to be the "face" of the competition and a judge! (yeah they knew about her!). And Pau was like "hell yeah I wanna be a judge!" 🤣 Faith was the winner in the 18 and under category and obviously an excellent drummer herself. 🥁🤘 "The Warning Paulina Drum Channel Interview" on The Warning Army yt.

Faith is part of a band with her 3 sisters "Crimson Apple". They are from Hawai and think they are in California now. She is the youngest. Their music is pop rock with some participations in festivals in the US, and 3 albums

Faith a tighter drummer I would not say more technical not present time anyway.Pau holds her hands high and comes down hard ,faith holds the sticks like a marching band drummer and is very prolific that way ..both are sensational.

I think the drummers who play barefoot or in stocking feet feel that they are more in control and attached to the music and the beat without their shoes. They feel that they have more control when switching between pedals. Pau uses a double pedal for her kick drum from time to time which requires her to switch between her hi-hat and that second kick pedal. There are also a series of two or three switch pedals she has connected to the Ableton software running on her MacBook that controls the click track and backing tracks for the group. A lot of drummers say shoes or boots restrict the full range of motion in the ankle. After all, shoes are designed for walking not sitting at a drum kit. I know some drummers who wear something like a wrestling shoe for that reason because it affords some protection to the sole of the foot while being much more flexible than a regular shoe. Also, there is the weight of the shoe that over a couple of hours of performing (sometimes) during a concert adds to how tired your legs get. Pau wears shoes on occasion but usually doesn't. The floors in some of the venues they perform are not conducive to walking around in bare feet, so she has shoes and even some boots with zippers to allow them to be taken off and put on quickly. She wears those while walking to her drum kit where she removes them and puts them back on (sometimes) when leaving the stage. But usually, she just wears a pair of socks.

This viewing of the clip bought something home to me. The two drummers have a very diferent approach to where they live with the music. Pau sits completely inside the whole sound. Faith seems to attack and force it into her room. Possibly ( I do NOT know) due to Pau bouncing off Ale who has ( according to TW) tighter timing. Faith, I am guessing, is the timing driver in her group.

2 examples of great drumming. Pau is the quintessential rock drummer while Faith has a little more jazz influence in her finesse. Faith has moved on since Crimson Apple, and is now playing with a band named Plush [Edit: I was wrong. It's Faith Powell that's in Plush]. Plush are another group of badass young women who have the same age range as The Warning, and I heartily recommend checking them out. The first time I saw Plush live was opening for The Warning, and they have also opened for Halestorm, Evanescence, and Disturbed. Plush' lead singer, Moriah Formica, is a powerhouse, being often, and rightly, compared to Ann Wilson. I strongly suspect that Plush was brought out by Disturbed because of the Ann Wilson similarity, because Moriah would join Disturbed during their performance of the Ann Wilson/David Draiman duet "Don't Tell Me" to sing Ann's part. To check out Plush, try the official videos for "Left Behind", "Find The Beautiful", or their cover of Heart's "Barracuda". They also have a decent video of Moriah singing "Don't Tell Me" with David on their KZbin account (PLUSH ROCKS).

Pau is usually in socks as well, and slips her shoes or boots on when she comes out from behind the kit. Just by watching, you can see Faith is more of a finesse drummer. By this time, Pau had been drumming for 10 years and was already a complete monster on the drums, playing with the passion we see from her all the time. Your setup doesn't look bad... Maybe a little distracting to see the video playing behind the video?
@big0bad0brad6 ай бұрын
I could see it probably working with a blurred video in the background. You get the frame filled without focusing on it by accident.
@wchaza676 ай бұрын
Yeah, I agree.
@Double_J_486296 ай бұрын
random internet a-hole here again .... this time with some fine-tuning thoughts: the only thing i'd do now is to slide the video box up a bit -- at least to where it's mid-way up the screen (i.e., centered top-to-bottom) (1) i'm a sucker for symmetry (2) if i move my cursor across the screen, the progress bar won't block the frame 😅 the green outline thing: i assume that's a alternative to setting up an actual green screen? (i have ZERO idea how any of that side of things works, so i'm just guessing) .... it works 👍 the main thing is that having the cropped box set against a graphic background (like you had initially) clashes and so is a bit distracting ; so doing it like this is easier on the eyes. again, that's just one person's 2¢ , and that _plus_ $1.79 of your own can still get you a cup of coffee in some places 😂
@ajs13406 ай бұрын
I have to agree with you on this. Seeing 2 videos is a bit distracting. Why have the "smaller" box at all if the whole background is the video??? I'm missing something here for sure.
@TRMReacts628126 ай бұрын
The reason for the smaller box, if I forgot to mention it, is because I'm blocking the larger video screen. So if during a music video something good happened, I wouldn't be blocking it from the viewer. Sill a work in progress, though.
@Double_J_486296 ай бұрын
@@ajs1340 i don't mind the 2 video thing .... kinda like it, actually. it's a neat visual. and i feel like just doing a top-to-bottom centering will make it feel more sync'd. the distracting part i was talking about is from a previous video when he cropped his camera feed and laid _that_ on top of a graphic ... it just clashes; so it's the _clashing_ element that jars the eyes. all that being said, i'm pretty ambivalent about it. the only time a background itself bothers/distracts me is when it's an overly-busy riot of weird colors and flashing lights and whatnot.
