The holes come from fastening the cloth during the dying process. You find those holes in all types of dyes fabrics. The Chinese apparently have a different machine from the Dutch, which is why the holes are different.

Oh, and a question: are only the Vlisco acceptable as real hollandais, or are the Julius fabrics, which also come from Holland, also good? The Vlisco are so expensive, but the Julius are more affordable.

Not in all African stores that fake hollandais are sold, like here in Nigeria in my store I have real hollandaise.. It depends on the one you can afford, I also have the medium one too, we must show you the two, then anyone you can afford you go for it..
