Hi Paul, just a thought.. maybe bring a compression socks with you when you travel back to US. Last time I traveled back to Philippines my legs started to feel heavy mid flight. luckily I listened to my friend to bring one and had the socks handy. Few minutes after I put it on I started to feel better. the heaviness and discomfort on my legs went away. I have traveled on long flights and never had any issue before. Maybe it’s my age☺️. Wishing you a safe and bearable flight.

The best way to get respect from someone is to give them respect. It is also much more fun to be nice to someone than to be rude. I'll carry this same attitude with me to the Philippines.

Good Stories Paul and Mae! Here in Ormoc City, you will see 50 plus motorbikes waiting downwind from the LTO (PNP) check point. They don't have registration, license, or both. have a motor, but mostly use the car. I'm 65, so my balance isn't quite what it used to be when I rode motorcycles for years in my 20's. Plus, my asawa doesn't want me to ride it too much! They have a lot of check points during election season. I usually get waved through.

I have been through 2 checkpoints on my way from Bacolod to San Carlos . They were mainly looking for weapons. They checked my License and asked me what I had in my backpack. I told them only clothing and they could look if they wanted. They did not search my Backpack and sent me on my way. It. was the same both times. Any encounter that I have had with Police in Philippines has been positive. They have always been Professional and helpful Unlike in the U S where they are digging for a reason to lock you in a cage.

It's a lot more complicated than I made it sound. Dumaguete Immigration office had to send my passport back to Manila to get their office to tell them what I owe. And that's after already going to the Manila office to get a stamp which Dumaguete Immigration cannot do. And the icing on the cake? LBC (used by Dumaguete Immigration office) lost my passport. It's more fun in the Philippines.

Safe travels Paul. Hope your father is doing well. My reason for coming home was my mothers health. I was fortunate to spend the Covid years with her. But her time just passed and this summer I will finally move to the Phil’s. So enjoy your time with family. In Mati, no one has taken the drivers test. Everyone paid a fixer and got their license. So they all went nuts when Mati put up their first traffic light. See you soon…..

I wouldn't want to be in your situation Paul. On one hand needing to take care of affairs in the states and see your loved ones after such a long time and on the other hand having to jump through the hoops to return. I myself will never take that covid shot so I will probably be forever ineligible to return to the Philippines. But the other issue is what's going on with the Ukrainian Russia war..I'm sure your also torn that your love for Mae your partner is just as much an issue unto itself . That being just missing your companion and the fear of the unknown if world events make travel delayed or impossible. I myself dreamed of retiring in the Philippines. I left in 91 (Navy) stationed dito. Subic Bay. Anyways I am finally in a very fortunate financial position and them Covid happens . So I had to come up with another plan and dream. So now I live on an 80 acre parcel, with a house and barn.. But to tell you the truth as Fortunate as I am I am still very jealous or envious for that matter of your situation. I actually stopped watching all the expat videos I was watching from probably 2016 to about 2020ish. It was too upsetting. So I had to resub to yours and others channels. I hope things get better in the world. Because of my handicap situation I wouldn't feel comfortable traveling right now with world events. Where live now is on the beautiful Ozarks. I moved from Scottsdale AZ. Kind of wish I was gonna see you while in the states..I was at one time one of your Original subscribers..I have always enjoyed your videos. Stay safe and may God place a hedge of protection around your family,, Mae and your self. God Bless.

I've learned several tips so far just by paying attention.👍 Although a big smile and a energetic wave as you pass by might be the trick 😆 Cheers.

When you leave the country after extending your visa beyond the 30 days free.... You go the the visa office In Dumaguete and ask for your criminal clearance and they do It for you. I know as I have done It. Cebu you don't need to visit, unless you know better!

The 1st time I went to the Philippines was 2005, to meet a girl. I made the ( big) mistake of reserving a rental car. The traffic and driving habits there make it very challenging to drive the streets. Anyway, we were once approaching a light, I asked if I was supposed to turn left. Both the girl and her brother said yes. The light changed, I started turning left, they both screamed for me to continue straight, so I did. Meanwhile a cop saw what I did and waved me over. They were going to hold my license until I could go to court. Her brother told them I was leaving the next day (I really still had anither week before leaving) and they gave the license back. Whew! This was Cebu by the way.
