With every relationship there is some give and take. At this point the only one that has been doing anything is Paulo and has been the one helping Miguel accept the fact that he is in fact gay. If the love is there in Miguel's heart for Paulo then he wouldn't let his fears overwhelm him but rather it seems like the opposite. Miguel just realized that he loves Paulo and now he is being forced to come out of the closet so that they can both fight Jacques accusations about them. Miguel has to choose if his love for Paulo is strong enough to overcome anything and be there to support Paulo or he will just deny everything and let Paulo alone and not support him.

basically, for them to fight their boss, they need to make the relation public. Miguel does not want that he is afraid what everyone will say. miguel wants to be with paulo and he enjoys the physical part but without the exposure.

Looking at Paulo I think he is close to getting tire of Miguel's problems he is hurting with all Miguel's confusion. Looking back when Paulo storyline began, Paulo himself had big problems with coming out. So now Paulo is 3 steps foward then Miguel. He knows that he is gay, he has been in the relationship and he is out in the family. Miguel just started to deal the fact that he is first time in love and in a relationship. And that is nothing to do with sexuality. I do not think he is gay. He is just in love with a best friend who happends to be a man. Maybe bisexual is the closest label in his case. But it is totally understandable that he is freaking out, bc he and Paulo experienced the boss reaction. Now both of them do not have job. No wonder that this thing even eats Miguel even more. And as far Miguel`s family - I do not think they have any problem about his relationship with Paulo. Also in the work, I do not think anyone than a boss has real problems with that. So both of them allready have experienced the worst reaction. But as far labeling go. They would label Miguel gay. But like I sayd not sure he is gay and he do not want evryone sees him as gay. But I also understand Paulos fustration. Hwo wants to be in stress all the time. In love you want to enjoy your time with your lover. Hope they have theyr time in the future:)))
