USADA is under contract and must have a minimum number of tests to make their multi million dollar yearly bill justifiable. They charge the UFC +/-$10-15million per year. They must show the UFC that they did hundreds of tests. They can spend millions less in flights, hotels etc by testing a few guys over and over. It's also why guys like Izzy can grow boobs and not be tested or only tested once a year, while Jiri and Paulo somehow received 1/10 of all USADA tests for the year

There's no way each test is 40k each. Dana has said publicly that the UFC spends $7M annually on USADA. If the 40k figure was accurate, that would mean the UFC would only be administering 175 tests per year for a roster of 700+ fighters.

Chael just makes up numbers, you know that, right? USADA testing averages out to about $1000 per test. If USADA charged $40K per test, with 500 athletes under contract and an average of 15-20 tests per year per athlete, the UFC would be spending ~!$400m/yr on testing, rather than the ~$7m/yr that they report.

The "trick" is simply that the guy isn't juicing, no one beats 36 "random" (see quotation marks, not an emphasis) tests if he is, you can't be that good at cycling and stuff.

He was only subjected to 13 "test sessions" in 2023 and provided 36 "samples" during those sessions. He wasn't tested on 36 different dates as Chael is suggesting, he only had 13 sessions/visits from usada in 2023 which averages out to once every 4 weeks; still a lot, but not nearly as much as Chael was suggesting. To be exact it was broken down as follows: Q1= 3 sessions/9 samples Q2= 5 sessions/15 samples Q3= 4 sessions/9 samples and Q4= 1 session/3 samples... samples would cosist of things like blood, urine , dried blood spot etc.

Those are sample numbers. He had the following Q1= 3 sessions(test dates) giving 9 samples Q2= 5 sessions giving 15 samples Q3= 4 sessions giving 9 samples Q4= 1 session giving 3 samples. He was only tested on 13 different days but 36 samples of blood, urine, dried blood spot etc. were collected during those sessions. Still seems excessive though.

I weigh the same as I was 4 decades ago, 75kg,---BUT in that time I have weighed from 68kg-108kg,--178cm tall. I have never taken anything other than food, at times way more than I should. I still wear a size 32 jeans today. Genetics man, can't beat it. I did do weight training at one stage for about 4 years when at times I was eating an entire chicken most days "bulking" (lol). Lots of people asked me if I juiced but I'm just lucky, I can lose 10-15 kg in 6 weeks relatively easily with just an increase in my aerobic training and intermittent fasting, but I can also put on the same in the same time frame. I own an interesting size range of clothes that girlfriends over the years have tried to throw out, I always stop them even though they insist, "You will never fit in that again" followed by "I hate you" when I do.

I wonder how USADA gets paid. Life experience tells me that if they have a set amount that they get paid and each test is hurting their bottom line, they won't be doing ANY excessive testing. That leads to Option B: they get paid per test and that would answer the riddle why would they test a guy 36 times in a year, of which he didnt have a fight. And why they would test a man 27 times in a month after he's out due to injury. When there doesn't seem to be a logical reason behind a decision, you need to follow the money.

There's a reason why the ufc is leaving usada. It stems from the connor fight. The sport has and will always have steroids and peds everyone takes them at some point. Gsp was big into them and retired because of the testing random and Saud ot was because of people using. When it was he didn't want to get caught. To compete on that level it's obvious they are on it. I'm glad you were always honest about it and they should just be open. Yes it's illegal and can hurt you more than it helps you if you do it wrong but there's alot of money at stake here and it's a long shot gamble. 💯

The reason they are cutting ties with USADA is mostly cause they don’t need them anymore. A big part of getting USADA was “cleaning up the sport” to make UFC more attractive to buyers, corporate sponsors, and ultimately being able to take it public / trade stocks. Now that they have that all sealed up, and the company worth billions, they don’t need the image of USADA anymore. The thing with Conor was just icing on the cake. But the contract was done at the end of this year regardless

Usada tests are about $1200 a pop. That's the WHOLE price for one test. If there are 700 fighters on contract that averages out to a little over 8 per fighter per year. So doing over 30 (or twice that in Jiri's case) is just ridiculous. Ppl still thinking Conor is the only reason the ufc is switching to DFS.... lol. No, it's because they are better. In pretty much every way. And maybe they will actually create a damn app for fighters to use for whereabouts reporting. And not do dumb shit like waking up a fighter up at 3 or 4 AM the morning of weigh-ins to ask for a sample.
