Paulo Freire & George Stoney Church Conversation

George C. Stoney, noted American documentary filmmaker and educator talks with his friend Paulo Freire, educator, author, and philosopher from Brazil. Filmed at a Catholic church in Olinda, Brazil in 1996, Stoney and Freire discuss Liberation Theology, tolerance, large questions of life, and Freire's notion of Christ as a friend.
This conversation is a excerpt from a longer work-in-progress: "Finding Freire", a George C. Stoney film about the famous Brazilian educator. "Finding Freire" is produced by George C. Stoney, Julio Wainer, David Bagnall, and David Olive.
This excerpt was filmed by Julio Wainer and Satie Wada with Mayumi Wainer assisting.
Original footage was filmed in Sony Hi-8 format, in January, 1996.

5:04, "the theology of liberation discovered the obvious" that there is no dichotomy between living in the world and living in a transcendent state - our task is to make heaven here ... How? 7:12 "Learning to deal with and being with 'difference.'" Some great ideas that can really create change - gotta love Paulo!
