You must have received special permission to take this ride. The public hasn’t been allowed to ride the bridge ever since the one lady had a particular bad accident on the bridge and in view of the general public several years ago. 😳😳 This is a nice informative video. 😊

I've been going to Canal Park ever since I was old enough to drive. Back then I only went during daylight hours because it wasn't quite as sketchy as it was after dark. And I never could figure out how to finagle a way to hitch a trip to the top of the bridge.

Amazing!!! I never really got the size and scale of the bridge from your videos. Fantastic view, would love to see a ship looking down on it from the bridge. May have to have earplugs when the horn goes off. Another great video.

@ Early 70's. They'd put you in a chain link cage built into the lake side sidewalk and lock the gates. The view was fantastic.

Wondering how closely the counter weights match bridge weight? Are the cement blocks for fine tuning? If so, does weight change with debris or moisture buildup? Or other related factors?

The control booth is in the center of the structure, looks like a house, there is a stairwell that goes from the roadway up to the control house.

correct! when it stopped, there was a small ladder about 6" you have to climb to get on the structure.
