I built a Phantex Evolve Shift Air with a Ryzen 3700x using a Noctua NHL12S cooler and an EVGA FTW3 GTX 1080 Ti . Thermals have always been relatively cool for how quiet it is. I think it really depends how you setup the fans (intake-exhaust), I have all fans bringing air into the case because of the mesh side panels. I think the highest CPU/ GPU temps I have seen are 80c under load, typically more like mid 70s, with it sitting at 30-45c under light use. I use it as a HTPC/ VR rig now, but it has a thousand hours of use as a dedicated VR setup in my dining room (my Dad really loved Arizona Sunshine, Super Hot & In Death). I can't imagine a better portable VR PC due to it's top IO and small footprint.

That's a pretty big mini itx case, it's about 22.9 litres, my node 202 build is only 10.2 litres and has a 1080ti and 8700 system inside it, Dan cases have a 7.25 litre case and the very popular, (and water cooling capable), Ncase M1 is only 12.6 litres. This case doesn't even qualify as an Sff build as the cut off is 20 litres. It might look intimidating but it's actually, for me, much more fun to plan and build in a tiny case and you end up with something that can sit on your desk instead of under it making everything much more accessible.

Size isn't always the major problem with sff cases, cooling is often a harder problem to solve and these larger itx cases are a lot easier for that.

I thought installing a pump and block above the rad in an AIO was a bad idea? My understanding is that there are always air bubbles in these AIOs (they are never fully filled and pressurized) and the bubble, being air, always sits at the top of the system. Installing the block above the rad would cause the air bubble to sit at the pump and significantly impact the life of the pump as it's designed to run in water pressure not air pressure.

Biggest issue with the case. The Radiator has to be at the bottom with the pump being all the way near the top... that aio is going to burn out fast. The little bit of air is going to be stuck in the pump at the top. And that is going to kill the cooling and the pump way before it expected life span.
@chriskamen21524 жыл бұрын
I have the first gen of this case, and it was a biotch to fit a water-cooled 1080ti and the same CPU cooler in it as well as all my rgb stuff, but it actually git quite nicely after some outside the box thinking. really glad to see they stuck with their product and genuinely improved it in a 2nd version without losing touch with what made it look good and a great case.

@jammymcwinny96364 жыл бұрын
Just a thought, with the way the AIO is configured in this case. The pump would surely suffer as the air in the loop will be in the pump instead of the rad as the pump is sitting above it. I mean it would still work but for how long? I think it would of made more sense for the case to have the PSU and Rad placement above the motherboard so this is no longer an issue.

hey paul, I run a similar setup, guess what,....its not gonna boot cause the riser cable Phanteks includes is gen 3, needs to be gen 4 for this setup to work....unless you manually switch the PCIe to gen 3 in the bios...in which case, you'll need to add another older gpu to get to it...easy fix, but thought you should know.

Question. Doesn't this mean your reservoir for your heat sink is below the CPU? I thought that was bad practice. Not a statement about Paul, just more thinking about the case design. I like having the "rear" of the motherboard on the top and the bottom up flow through was cool. It's a nice looking case and an interesting design. Kinda thing it would look better without any RGB, as the cabling is rather tight, it showed off the AIO cabling bend. Thank you for the video.

I'd love the 5600X and a 3080. I have the R5 3600 and the RTX 2060 now. Is it worth upgrading to the 5600X and the 3080?
