Is a growth regulator necessary in the summer months when cool season lawns growth slows down? Are you only using in during the spring time? Can this be applied in the fall on cool season grasses? Can it be applied to a lawn that has been overseeded? I'm interested in this and that's why I have many questions. Thanks
@rodmarquardt50994 жыл бұрын
Hello. Growth regulators can be used at any time of the growing season. During the summer when the grass is not growing as fast in the summer months in your area the benefit of a regulator is not as great. Anuew can be applied in the fall on cool season grasses and it can be applied to a lawn that has been overseeded. Great questions!

@@rodmarquardt5099 Thanks. I'd love to use this during the spring time because I typically have to cut about 3x a week if I want to mulch, otherwise it's all bagging to keep up. Is there any benefit or reason not to use a herbicide (Velocity) for trivialis while under an Anuew program? Or is this fighting in separate directions? I have a little under an acre fescue lawn with a fairly substantial triv invasion this year. The fescue is very healthy and looking great except for the lime invader. I raked the "dead" stuff last year (not knowing what it was) and over-seeded only to learn the identity of my problem this spring. Also discovered a nice little patch of annua. I'm also considering handling some of the spots with Round-up & seed to compare the strategies going into next season. Suggestions & comments welcome.

@@PaulsPrimeCuts Thanks Paul. I spoke with lots, LOTS of people on this topic. Some say... forget seeding, just do pre-emergent in fall, some say use Tenacity 3-4 times and it'll clear it, some say "just burn the POA Triv and overseed heavy". I can easily use round up on POA Triv (the ligh green patches), but POA Annua is all over the place mixed in with good grass. Other than plucking it out by hand... not sure what else to do. Oh and also spoke with folks from SaveATree ... their approach to POA is Tenacity 3-4 times and overseed. Didn't fully solve the problem, but the guy says it clears things up a lot. Awesome videos. Hey Your probably going to get a lot of questions about the action plan on using this product. For example when do you start applying this product. Do you do first application mid February or March, or based on when the ground temps get up to a certain temp? Will you use this thru the summer or is that not a good idea? What about using during the fall time to suppress other weeds as well as grassy weeds, or will it not be advised to use when overseeding. Lastly how will we know if it’s also not hindering root growth. Oh and can one use that on shrubs and bushes?
@PaulsPrimeCuts4 жыл бұрын
carsutube 😂that’s a lot of questions... I would use something different on shrubs ... plenty of shrub specific products. I would start this when poa is present as far as poa control I think it would be best to be early. But for growth regulator I’d start just before temps are going to give you massive growth and 2-3 apps in the spring 4 -6 weeks apart
@carsutube4 жыл бұрын
Thanks for taking the time to answer my question. I look forward to using Anuew. Hey do you have any recommendations of a product one would use for shrubs, or what have you found you like to use? Thanks again.
@rodmarquardt50994 жыл бұрын
@@carsutube - I'll help Paul out here! He's got you covered with his answers but I'll add on. No problem using Anuew through the summer if you want continued growth regulation. The GDD model on the Green Keeper app. helps to determine how often and when to apply. Basically the hotter the weather the quicker the product metabolizes and so it needs to be applied more often in the middle of them summer as compared to the spring or fall. Will improve stress tolerance of turf in hot weather. Apply when green and actively growing. Use a non-ionic surfactant for best results. Can be used when overseeding. This does not hinder root growth - Anuew shifts carbohydrates down into the roots making the plant more healthy.
