PARKTOWN BOYS' HIGH SCHOOL SOUTH AFRICA: HIGHLIGHTS OF THE 29TH ANNUAL U14 RUGBY FESTIVAL

Parktown Boys' High School hosted its annual U14 Rugby Festival at the end of March 2012. This festival is in its 29th year of existence and is the only festival of its kind in the country. The Festival is proudly endorsed by THE GOLDEN LIONS rugby.
The aim of the festival is to expose junior Rugby players from numerous schools from as far as Durban and Nelspruit to festival style Rugby, with the purpose of helping most of the boys either from Parktown or visiting schools who have come from predominantly Football background to the wonderful, expansive and running game of Rugby. This is achieved by pitting schools against each other in 5 shortened matches over a 2 day period in March each year. In between matches the coaches have the opportunity of trying different combinations and righting the wrongs of the previous matches. Inexperienced Rugby players learn form experienced ones and vice versa. Teams compete for the love of the game with the ultimate winner being Rugby.
2012's festival took place on 30 and 31 March. The sides attending included: Jeppe High School for Boys; St. John's College; St. Benedict's College; St. David's Marist Inanda; Pretoria Boys' High School; St. Alban's College; St. Stithian's College; Upland's College; Helpmekaar; St. Andrew's High School (Bloem) and Durban High School.
This year, we also had an U13 section, with 2 Lions Presidential sides and 2 primary school sides playing.
This year the event was filmed for television with a four-camera unit as a pro bono fund-raising initiative by Parktown parent and Director Paul Tilsley and his company Competent Artistes.(www.competentartistes.tv) Most of the camerawork was by the boys of Parktown!
