Okay I just wanted to say that whatever club or league they come from, these guys are obviously skilled. Also, from my interpretation this was a relaxed 2 on 2 and was meant as a dangle fest and not an actually super competitive 2 on 2. Also Pavel is a STICK HANDLING EXPERT! It’s what he does, that’s why is so freaking good out there. These KHL players are just having a good time and are likely not better than Pavel at stick-handling but they also specialize in other skills in order to be pro hockey players, such as: Checking, skating, passing, shooting, etc. The point being was this was for fun, different skill levels and specializations. Pretty sure that if it were actually competitive and used all aspects of hockey that the KHL players would win. But the point of this video was to have a fun dangle fest. While he may be a former AAA ice hockey player, and a former national competitor for team canada in floorball/field hockey, his skill set isn’t near good enough. He has the hands for sure, but all other aspects of the game (shooting, passing checking, hockey IQ, etc.) are weaker. An above average player, yes. NHL caliber? No.

To me a tryhard is someone who gives maximum effort in situations which are obviously unfair (ex: the dad who goes hard against 6 year olds in father son scrimmages, or against beginner players). In a situation where the talent is somewhat even, I don't understand the point of not trying hard. It's not fun, and it's boring to hold back. To me, the people who call others tryhards are just people too lazy, uncommitted, and undisciplined to put in the work so they just call other people tryhards to justify their inability or laziness. I play hockey to have fun, and get exercise. I try hard.
