Can we stop to appreciate how great a linemate Tomas Holmstrom was? Especially during the 2008 cup run, he made some great plays for D and Z in addition to his contributions in the corners and the net front.

Club Modnar I agree 100%, but also (and this is not a knock on his ability or anything of that nature) he benefitted from playing with very dangerous linemates usually. People weren’t looking for Brett Hull to pass, usually it was a rocket. Devereaux being as good of a skater, Zetterberg’s versatility, Holmstrom causing havoc out front. Not to mention, like you said, Datsyuk is a silent killer. An absolute assassin. What the fuck am I going on about

Huge Datsyuk fan. He had maybe the best puck skills I've ever seen, I just don't understand why he wasn't more productive. He's just under a point per game player which is awesome, fantastic career, but when you think about how talented he was, it just doesn't make sense that he was only a 30 goal scorer 3 times and never a 100 pt scorer. He was just so fun to watch...the numbers don't match.
@MrMcGiblets14 жыл бұрын
...and a fantastic defensive forward. Best takeaway skills ever.
@justplainbrad77133 жыл бұрын
@@MrMcGiblets1 With all of the Datsyuk's qualities listed, did you ever figure out why he didn't light the lamp more often? At first I puzzled at that point, then realized that you can't carry 1/3 of the Teams D on your back, and also score more often. I'm from the Gordie Howe era, and nobody will ever bump him from #1...in my books, and he also played both ends; but Pavel was a sight to behold, and still find myself smiling while watching his unbelievability unfold in clips...though I've seen it 20 times. Really saddens me that his equal is unlikely, in my time left. I'll always remember when Gordie retired from the Wings in 1971, a great piece of my hockey life left with him. Like a lot of old schoolers, Steve Yzerman brought me back to the seats, and Wings enjoyment...while Pavel totally captivated me. When Datsyuk left the Wings, the same rebuilt-piece was gone again...only this time, there will be no replacement for the *. [It's been 11 months, but if you admire Pavel, you should be receptive to a late reply]
@MrMcGiblets13 жыл бұрын
@@justplainbrad7713 Datsyuk hardly had to carry the team though. He was there for two cups and they had tons of talent. He was clearly a 200 ft player and defensively responsible but it just seems a bit odd.
