First thing I did when I got my F-450 was install the Air-Lift bags. I put on the Easy-Air system so I could adjust the pressure on the fly with the remote. I also put the compressor in the bed over the wheel well to keep it out of the elements. Heard people were having shortened life/failure issues due to dirt and salt. Nice setup!

would be cool if lowering the bags would go back into the tank.
@PavingNewPaths Жыл бұрын
That would be cool but would never work, The tank has a system pressure of 200psi and is always maintained by the system! The bags will have a max of 100psi in them, even if you plumbled it back to tank 100psi is not going to flow towards 200psi! Almost all air systems will have an exhaust dump and will never recapture the air!

I added the same air compressor to my air tank. One thing they don't tell you is that you need to run a water separator or it voids the rust warranty of the tank. Their big idea is that you get under there once a week to drain that tank. So i got a normal air separator at Tractor Supply and its amazing how much water it catches.
@PavingNewPaths2 жыл бұрын
That is why I installed the drain valve and tank where I did! I can reach it through the wheel well and open it up to drain! They also don't tell you that even with draining you are likely to have to replace the tank every 3 years due to internal rust from the water!

Any chance you could post a picture of the gauges and switch connection? Having a hard figuring out how you did the air connections.
@PavingNewPaths Жыл бұрын
It is very simple your air supply line from the air system needs a "T" fitting installed on it and you run one line to a gauge to show system pressure and the other goes to the "IN" side of the switch! On the "OUT" side of the switch install a "T" fitting, one line runs to a gauge to show Air Bag pressure, and the other line goes to the Airbags!

So I saved this video knowing that when my 2022 F350 dually I would be able to go back and watch it so when I added my onboard system I would know where to mount everything. Looks good, I just bought a 350 dually and it came with bags., they installed the compressor in the bed which really ruins my ideas of hauling dirt, branches or whatever other junk we throw in our beds... so how has the water, mud, dirt issue been on your mounting location??? I would like to relocate the compressor.. 2008 XLT Dually
@PavingNewPaths Жыл бұрын
So when I installed it I did a poor job of remembering to drain the system of water, and ended up having to work on the system and the water caused issues with the pressure switch relay and the tanks check valve! After we repaired that I added a remote Drain Valve so I could drain the system from the cab using one of the upfitters! You can check that video out here! kzbin.info/www/bejne/mH3WpX6Yq8ppbrM Our Air compressor lasted 3 years of daily use before we had to replace it, when I took it apart you could tell I did some damage to the cyclinder walls when I let the water build up! So as long as you remember to drain it the location under the bed has not affet on the life of the system!

Great video! Just wondering on the compressor wiring did you connect both the power line wire and switch wire to the truck's upfitter?
@PavingNewPaths Жыл бұрын
No the whole system operates on the pressure switch relay from viair! The upfitter is just the on signal to the relay! You run a dedicated power and ground from the battery to the relay! It operates based on the system pressure in the tank, less than 160psi and the compressor will turn on, it will run to 200 psi and turn off!
@rayr4975 Жыл бұрын
@Paving New Paths The pressure switch would still be in the mix. The Viair pressure switch would just get its power and be controlled by the uplifter switch instead of being connected directly to the battery. This way it would only run when I have the uplifter switch flipped ON and when pressure is low. Just tying to understand why the need for the direct battery connection if that's the point of the upfitter setup is all.
@PavingNewPaths Жыл бұрын
@@rayr4975 Thats exactly how it works, the pressure switch relay gets power and ground from the battery directly, the upfitter is the on signal for the pressure switch to be active! So when its on it will only run if the pressure is below 160 psi in the system!
@Buszzbait69 Жыл бұрын
@PavingNewPaths Great setup. I take it that pressure switch relay came with the kit? I did not see it listed on your parts list. When wiring it to the battery did you use the 12 gauge wire? Thank you..

Awesome video , I have the the Viair and recently order the 5k airlift bags.How exactly does the paddle switch work ? For the release you just run a line that goes outside ? The only electric is for the gauge , right ? Sorry for all the question , I been looking around for information how to and you just got me super close lol
@PavingNewPaths3 жыл бұрын
There is no electric needed for the paddle switch. You hook your air supply to one side and your air line to your bags on the other. When you press the switch to air up bags it allows pressure from supply line to air bag line. When you press button to deflate bags it allows air pressure from bags to leave through open exhaust port on back of the switch. There is no place on the switch to attach line to exhaust outside the vehicle. It however is not a huge volume of air so its not something to worry about.
@adambiggerstaff28432 жыл бұрын
So quick question really wanting to do a setup like this but to just run my bags and some air tools how do I install the switch to inflate and deflate how do Install 2 gauges one for air in tanks and one for the bags I'm going to run the compressor to a toggle I understand the rest of it just not the gauges and switch
@PavingNewPaths2 жыл бұрын
Ok so you want to take an airline that has system pressure, using a Tee Fitting you will run one line to a System pressure gauge and one line to the input of the paddle switch to air your bags up! This will give you the pressure that is in your tank! On the output side of the paddle switch (to airbags) you will install a Tee fitting and have one line to a pressure gauge, and one goes to the Airbags! The pressure you read on this side will be the air pressure in the bags!

@PavingNewPaths Жыл бұрын
We have done it two ways! The white truck in the video we used a hole under the drivers side door sill near the e-brake cable there was a rubber plug we drilled a hole in and used as a grommet! On my truck the controls are under the back seat, we drilled a hole in the cab and installed a grommet for that one!
@Tmil1035 Жыл бұрын
Thank you, sorry for all the questions. I ask wrong question. Did you run air line from manifold to air gage in cab. Not the air bags. You only mentioned one supply line going to cab.
@PavingNewPaths Жыл бұрын
@@Tmil1035 You need to run a system pressure line into the cab so you can see the pressure on the gauge and have it on the paddle switch to inflate and deflate the air bags! You also have to run an airline from the paddle switch in the cab back to the air bags!

What keeps the airbags from pumping up after sounding the air horns?
@PavingNewPaths2 жыл бұрын
We have a manifold where we have a system pressure to each circuit but they are all controlled separate from each other! The train horn only sends air to the train horn when we use it and the airbags only air up or deflate when we adjust them! Doing one function does not affect any of the other functions in the system!

@@brandencb19 Technically it all comes with each kit and you have to make it work for what you want!
