Hey thanks for watching my video, I think if you make sure you conformal coat all the boards and then the plugs once there plugged back in you will be good to make your o3 water resistant!! I have tested mine and it is water resistant only, as I didn’t conformal coat the plugs therefore it’s not water proof!! I haven’t tested it underwater but I have tested it in heavy rain! As for the thermal paste as long as you put the paste back on, it will transfer the heat through the heat sink accordingly no matter what else is in between it (ie conformal coating) the only thing the heat sink and thermal paste will do is allow it to be powered on without flying for longer, mine takes around 1.5-2min to overheat now but I get sat lock in around 30seconds so it’s not really a problem! With the heat sink and main case on you are looking at around 6min before it overheats and shuts down.

Thanks for the video. Not making a naked O3, but I’m planning to coat my 03, but it’ll be placed back in to the case. What are your thoughts on removing thermal past, not de-lidding it. I’d then conformal coat everything, reapply thermal past, then back in to case. My concern is how watertight the heatsink / cpu cover is? Also, how good at heat transfer will be on the heatsink and also if it’ll hinder heat transfer to the thermal paste and subsequently the case? Thoughts? Suggestions? I’ve coated everything else on the quad other than the o3 and camera, just trying to plan out the best method. Cheers.

Hace you tried flying under the rain? Does it overheat?

I have flown in the rain and it is waterproof and as long as your airbourne it doesn’t over heat, but as soon as I land and disarm it overheatsin maybe two minutes. I wanted to film a video but I’m having extreme problems on its pid tune! It has a lot of oscillation even in straight flight! Not from the modification because it was there straight out of the box! I didn’t realise how hard pid tuning is🤦‍♂️
